Youth Choir presents:
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
The Reveille Youth Choir is pleased to invite you to several opportunities to see our their rendition of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Our first performance is Thursday, June 30 at United Methodist Family Services (UMFS) at 7:00 p.m. UMFS is located at 3900 West Broad Street, and you are welcome to join us there. Our two home performances will be on Wednesday and Thursday, July 6 and 7, both beginning at 7:00 p.m. in our sanctuary. Please join us for ice cream in the fellowship hall following our July 7 performance.
We have been working on Joseph since January and have had a great time with it. The story comes from the Book of Genesis and recounts the life, trials and eventual triumphs of Joseph, Jacob's youngest of twelve sons. Andrew Lloyd Weber originally scored his witty account of Joseph as a twenty-minute play for children. He developed it into a full Broadway musical and there are now several shorter versions available for performance. Ours is about an hour in length.
You will not want to miss this! Please come, and bring everyone you know. This will be the best one yet.

Will you help prepare bag lunches for the homeless?
This Sunday, June 26, please come to the fellowship hall at 10:30 a.m. to help prepare bag lunches for homeless persons in the Richmond area. Our older elementary children and their parents sponsor this ministry by providing the food and help to make the sandwiches and bag the lunches. We know that in ways great and small we model the faith for one another. Won't you join us in helping care for God's children in this very simple way?
Parents: If you have not yet responded to the Evite for food needed for the lunches, please do so today. Jennifer Huneycutt coordinates this monthly meal and would be happy to answer any questions you might have; e-mail her here. huneycutts98@yahoo.com.

Construction News: What's going on in the hole?
At this point in the building process, it seems as though very little is happening, but that is not at all correct. Those second-story Sunday school classes facing Cary Street provide an excellent bird's eye view of the construction site. There is a gigantic hole in the middle of the site! This critical work is preparation for the stormwater detention system and piping. The stormwater detention system is required by the city of Richmond for the purpose of regulating the water flow into the city system during and after a heavy rainstorm. Concrete footings are also being poured for the foundation, and we expect to see the masonry foundation walls beginning to be laid any day now. There will also be work on the wall demolition for the new opening into the existing connector corridor to the sanctuary.
Other projects include getting the basement of the sanctuary prepared for a new electrical switchboard and conversion of the chapel into a new music room. The chapel renovation is well underway with removal of all the pews, railings, musical instruments, and furniture from the chapel. Fixtures have been removed, as well as the carpet. As previously reported, the pews found a new home in an enthusiastically grateful church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, in Matoaka.

A brief report on Virginia Annual Conference 2011
The Virginia Annual Conference met in Roanoke June 15 through June 19 with more than 3300 in attendance. The Conference celebrated the worldwide mission of the United Methodist Church with lively music and strong worship. This year the Conference elected delegates to the General and Jurisdictional Conferences which will be held in 2012. Among the delegates were some with a particular Reveille connection: Beth Downs to General Conference and Beth Givens to Jurisdictional Conference. Mark Ogren was elected as an alternate.
All four of Reveille's clergy - Jim Noland, Abby Kocher, Carol Uzzle, and Stephen Coleman - were appointed for another year. In addition to the four appointed clergy, Reveille was represented by Lay Leader Dick Davis, Kevin Bruny, Carrington Castle, and Ruby Corr. Maureen McKay, who serves on the Conference Board of Finance and Administration, and Clark Williams, the Conference Chancellor, were also present. Also attending from Reveille were the Rev. Laughton Corr, the Rev. Reg and Carrie Potts, the Rev. Chancellor and Margaret Hamilton, Mary Anne Noland, and Bishop Kern Eutsler.
As a cost-cutting measure, the Conference implemented a streamlined structure, reducing the number of districts from 18 to 16. As a part of this change, a number of churches from the former Ashland District will be added to the Richmond District.
Bishop Tim Whitaker of the Florida Conference presided over the Conference in our Bishop's absence. We wish Bishop Kammerer a speedy recovery from her recent illness.
The Reverend Bill Wright was among those whose life and ministry was celebrated at the memorial service on Saturday evening.

Those amazing Reveille bats have been swinging
The Reveille Coed Softball Team started their regular season on June 14. A record number of players (19) showed up, and everyone was ready to play. Dave Craven returned to the pitcher's mound after a 2-year absence. The first game was close all the way, but the team from Richmond Ford won the game 6-5 in the bottom of the last inning, even though Boyd Bullock and Janet Sims had made some amazing plays at shortstop and second base all through the game.
The second game featured some plays in the outfield by Stephen Coleman and Andrew Minarik that could have made ESPN highlights, and Reveille jumped out to a 3-0 lead. However, in the top of the last inning, the Richmond Ford bats came alive with a vengeance, and Reveille couldn't recover. Even though that left Reveille with an 0-2 record after the first week, all was not lost. There were lots of players, and everyone had lots of fun.

Becoming Disciples
Becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ is a lifelong process that begins in infancy and continues to our dying day. During July our children in Sunday school will be learning the stories of disciples in the early church. List below are the lessons for each Sunday during the month and the Bible story related to the lesson. Remember: Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. We hope you will make every effort to have your children in Sunday school throughout the summer.
