VBS and Day Camp registration concludes Sunday

Can you help the VBS storyteller?

Do you know what a chimenea is? If you answered yes perhaps you own one that you will lend to the Vacation Bible School (VBS) workers during the week of July 24-28. We are recreating a kitchen of biblical times for our Bible storytelling center and would love to have a chimenea to set the scene. If you don't know what a chimenea is, it is a small, rustic outdoor fireplace. If you have something similar that you think we could use, let us know.

We need some clay dishes or other kitchen items to complete our biblical kitchen. Also, if you are interested in a small acting role during the week of VBS, we are looking for a few volunteers. The roles are an Israelite woman, Jesus, Peter, townspeople, and disciples (this is an easy role, as you will simply be acting out the Passover meal silently.) The lines are simple to learn, and children love seeing the Bible stories come to life. If you have an item for us to borrow or you would like to be an actor, please e-mail Lili Boyd  or call her at 763-5655.

HOT MEAL TO BE SERVED JUNE 23

We expect a large number of guests for our noon meal at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church as school children will be there in addition to adults. Please consider volunteering to serve. We will leave Reveille at 11:00 a.m. and finish by 1:00 p.m. Child care can be provided by e-mailing Carol Uzzle or calling her at 359-6041, ext. 117.

If you are unable to serve the meal, you can still help by making a potato casserole (recipe provided) or by making homemade treats for dessert. Casseroles that must be Friends of the Homeless 60%reheated should be delivered to Reveille by 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 23. Hot casseroles need to be delivered by 10:30 a.m. For more information or to volunteer to help, please e-mail Mary Jane Walls or call her at 355-4479.

BAG LUNCHES TO BE PREPARED JUNE 26

On Sunday, June 26, we will prepare bag lunches for the homeless during coffee fellowship at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall. This is a ministry sponsored by the third through fifth graders and their families. We encourage the entire congregation to help the children prepare the 160 bag lunches. This is a simple way to witness to our children that we all care for those who have limited means. Also, working together provides an opportunity to get to know others and to make a task fly by.

Parents: You will receive an Evite concerning the food items we need for the lunches. Please remember that no one is expected to provide 160 juices boxes or all of any one item. Whatever quantity you can provide will be a welcomed gift. Jennifer Huneycutt coordinates this monthly meal and will happily answer your questions; e-mail her here.

A note of appreciation

To the members of Reveille UMC,

Thank you for all your prayers for my recovery after the operation on my broken leg. The many cards, phone calls and visits are greatly appreciated as I am in the process of rehab at Glenburnie in Richmond.

My Wesleyan Fellowship Bible class, the Men's Prayer group, our Choir and many pew friends are contributing to my rehab recovery with all their prayers and concern.

Stephen Coleman, Betty Caplan, Charles Selden, Betty Kinder and Stuart Blain have been so gracious to drive my wife to and from hospital and Glenburnie, never hesitant and always cheerful.

I count my blessings daily. God bless you all.

Richard Koiner and his family
