Annual Conference 2011
Since the days of John Wesley Methodists have gathered to pray, worship, and plan. This year the tradition will continue when the Virginia Annual Conference meets in Roanoke on June 15 to 19. This theme for this year's Conference will be "Being Christ to Others: Snapshots of the Kingdom," based on Matthew 10:7-8.
The 2011 Annual Conference will elect delegates to the upcoming General and Jurisdictional Conferences. These two bodies meet every four years. The focus of the General Conference is to review and enact the legislative agenda of the Church. The Jurisdictional Conference has the responsibility of electing and assigning bishops to serve in the various Annual Conferences across the denomination.
Reveille sends eight persons to the Annual Conference: Our four clergy, Jim Noland, Abby Kocher, Stephen Coleman, and Carol Uzzle; and four lay members: Kevin Bruny, Carrington Castle, Ruby Corr, and Dick Davis.
Please keep these persons and the Annual Conference in your prayers. |

Conference offering will help many When our four appointed clergy and four lay members attend this year's Annual Conference June 15-19 in Roanoke, they will take with them a check from Reveille which reflects your generous offering. It will be combined with those from other churches in the conference. The goal is for this offering to raise $200,000 to be shared by ministries in Brazil and Mozambique, and in Roanoke, as well as in Horntown, Virginia on the Eastern Shore. Please make your contribution by writing Annual Conference Offering on your check and making it payable to Reveille UMC. Return to Top |

A Simple Way to Help Women Leaving Prison
Prison Ministry Clothes Closet
Have you heard that once again our United Methodist Women are sponsoring a clothing closet, which benefits the Chesterfield Women's Detention and Diversion Center? We are collecting gently-used shoes, handbags, dresses, skirts, blouses, tops, suits, and pants. All sizes are needed for women in their 20's to their 50's.
As their release date approaches the ladies go to the clothing closet to select outfits that will help them look and feel great for their job interviews. The clothing is really appreciated since many of the women have no family or their families have limited means.
The clothing closet is a year 'round project. The collection spot is in the Outreach closet located across from the elevator off the main church hallway. Please fold items and place them into the green plastic containers in the closet. Thank you for your support as we help these women transition to a new life.
If you have questions, please e-mail Donna Faye Kessel or call her at 399-2539.

Help feed the homeless
June 23 School will be out when we serve our next noon meal at Greater Mount Moriah Baptist Church. That means that among the approximately 180 guests we will have a large number of children accompanying their parents. Please sign up to prepare a potato casserole or some pick-up desserts. We also need six volunteers to help serve the meal from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sign-up sheets are located at the Welcome Center and in the fellowship hall. Copies of the potato casserole recipe are on the sign-up board. For more information or to volunteer to help, please e-mail Mary Jane Walls or call her at 355-4479.

What to wear? Your regular clothes, no choir robes!
If you would like to participate, e-mail Cathy Armistead (cathya@reveilleumc.org) or call her at 359-6041, ext. 123.
