TopHoly Week Services

You are invited, indeed, encouraged to experience the deep meaning of Easter by participating in the full array of our Holy Week services. Our worship has been planned to give us insight into the true glory of the resurrection.

We cannot fully appreciate the wonder of the resurrection unless we walk through the valley of death with Jesus. We begin Holy Week by recalling Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, acknowledging as we celebrate this joyous occasion that this bright beginning was soon eclipsed by the darkness of betrayal and the agony of crucifixion.  Our focus on the cross reminds us of the depth of God's redeeming love and the power of forgiveness to erase the effects of sin.

Finally the glory of Easter reveals the power of God to transform death into new life.

Our preschool children through second grade will lead the Palm Palm Procession 2Sunday procession at the 11:00 a.m. worship service this Sunday, April 17, by waving palm branches. The children will practice during Sunday school.

Following the children's message, the younger children will return to their Sunday school classes for Extended Session.  First and second graders will join their parents for worship.

Parents of the children in the two-year-olds class are asked to accompany their children for the procession and then take the children back to their classroom following the procession. Our youngest children will not be staying for the children's message.

PARKING

The circle driveway in front of the church, as well as the front door, are closed off for the beginning of our building project.

Hard hat

Parking spaces along the driveway to the back of the church are reserved for special needs and handicapped parking. We plan to have people there to assist with the new parking for a few weeks until the congregation gets used to the change. People using the special needs parking spaces may enter the building through the weekday school door or through the Garth entrance, both of which provide accessibility to the entire church building.

If you are able, please consider parking on Antrim Street or Windsor Way or across Cary Street Road in Windsor Farms. On Easter Sunday, we will have a police officer on Cary Street Road to help members and guests cross between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

8:30 SERVICE MOVES TO SANCTUARY

The 8:30 worship service will be in the sanctuary until the new chapel is completed.

LANDSCAPE IS BEING READIED FOR CONSTRUCTION

To prepare the area that will house our new facility space, many boxwoods have been relocated and several trees have been removed. Care has been taken to remove only what is necessary. Fencing has been installed around the construction area for safety.

Feeding those less fortunate

Bag Lunches to be prepared

April 24

We will prepare bag lunches for the homeless on Easter Sunday morning, April 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the fellowship hall.  We want to set a record and prepare 160 bag lunches in 15 minutes. This is not a speed relay but a fulfillment of Many hands make the task go by quickly.

Monthly, on the Sunday before the fourth Monday, our older elementary children and Friends of the Homeless 60%their families invite the congregation to join them in making sandwiches and packing lunches. The group meets in the fellowship hall immediately following the 9:30 worship service. Each lunch bag receives a drink box, a container of applesauce or a fresh fruit, a bag of chips, and a dessert. Meanwhile, in the kitchen, ham and cheese sandwiches are made.

On Monday morning the men of the Men's Prayer Breakfast group put the sandwiches in the lunch bags. Later in the morning the bags are taken to be distributed at the Friends of the Homeless serving site at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

We hope you will help us meet the challenge of preparing the bag lunches in 15 minutes or less. The coordinator for this ministry is Jennifer Huneycutt, and she will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Coming Soon:

The Big Apple or Bust! Youth Auction

Going once, going twice, sold!  If you are in the market for a delicious pie, a sumptuous carrot cake, art, jewelry or even yard work or babysitting services, Reveille is the place to be.  On April 27, the Wonderful Wednesday program will be the annual youth auction. We will have desserts, services, and items available for silent bidding, with some additional special voice auction items as well.

The auction will benefit our July youth mission trip to New York City. Seventy-two people are signed up for what we expect will be a transformative trip to the Big Apple. Specifically, the auction proceeds will help to defer transportation and food costs for our group.

In addition to the bidding, the youth choir will provide a preview of their music from their mission musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.  Come and support our youth!
