UMW Sunday is April 3

Our annual celebration of the United Methodist Women (UMW) at Reveille gives us an opportunity to share the purpose and mission focus of the UMW with other church Women 2 - 55%members. This year, our celebration will be on Sunday, April 3.

At our 8:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services, Associate Pastor Abby Kocher will be preaching, and at The Point worship service at 9:30 a.m. our own Meghan Roth will give the message. Meghan currently is a student at Wesley Theological Seminary and is a certified candidate for the ordained ministry. Reveille has endorsed Meghan's call to ministry.

UMW members will be wearing name tags identifying their circle and the year they joined the UMW. Many of our women have over 40 years of service in this mission-driven group.

UMW members Betty Allen and Donna Fay Kessel will tell you about their roles in this unit through the mission moment at all three services. Many of our other members will greet you as you enter the worship space and will also participate in the serving of holy communion.

We look forward to this worship experience each year as we celebrate our focus of helping women and children through our work for local and global missions.

Lent and Easter outreach offering

Our 2011 Lenten outreach offering will be shared between two worthy causes. It will provide much-needed funding for Richmond Friends of the Homeless, the feeding program Reveille supports, and also for the One Great Hour of Sharing offering.

Lent-Easter OfferingEach month, Reveille members participate in the preparation of cheesy potato casseroles and also serve a hot meal to those less fortunate who gather at the Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church feeding site. This worthy program nearly ended late last year due to a lack of funding.

The One Great Hour of Sharing offering provides for the administrative costs of United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR) so that 100% of the donations you give to special offerings for disaster relief (such as for the recent disaster in the Pacific) will be used just for relief efforts and not for administrative costs.

Donations to this offering may be in any amount. If you would like to have your donation acknowledged in the Easter printout of these gifts, be sure to complete a yellow order form found in the sanctuary, chapel, fellowship hall, or church office or print one here and return it with your check or cash no later than Wednesday, April 13.

Care packages for college students to be made

Many of us can remember the joy and excitement of receiving care packages when we were in college. Spring finals are right around the corner for many of Reveille's Care packagesstudents. With the help of our congregation, the college ministry team would like to put together care packages for every Reveille college student as a reminder of the care and support of our church. Please stop by the bulletin board across from the choir room or check out the display board in the fellowship hall for more information and to see what you can contribute.

Be sure to bring contributions to church by Sunday, April 17 and place them in the  container labeled "College Care Packages" in the fellowship hall or in the alcove across from the choir room.  If you would like to help assemble care packages or if you have questions, please contact Amy Donald at 741-5355.

Volunteers needed for outreach project

Rebuilding Together of Richmond

April 30

For the 18th consecutive year Reveille is a sponsor in this program. We need at least 50 volunteers, so please consider giving your time to this worthwhile outreach project.

ToolsRebuilding Together of Richmond will be held on Saturday, April 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  If you are interested and willing to participate, please sign up. You need not be a skilled worker to help. Your support of this important ministry allows Reveille to continue to meet the growing need for help of our elderly, low-income or disabled neighbors. To register, look for volunteer sign-up sheets on the bulletin board across from the choir room, register online, call R.C. Hall (690-5263) or e-mail him.

We have been assigned two houses this year in the Peter Paul neighborhood of Richmond.   The owner of one of the houses is 65 years old and her grandson lives with her.  She has not had heat for three years and has used her 35-year-old gas stove and space heaters to heat her house. She has also been without hot water for over a year. Fortunately, these problems have been resolved; however, there is still much work to do. Some of our projects in this house include replacing doors, windows and locks, reglazing windows, painting inside and out, repairing gutters, building a tool shed, replacing the kitchen stove and installing new floor tile in the kitchen.

The second house will require somewhat less work. The owner is 78 years old and lives alone. Projects in this house include installing new railings on the front porch, replacing floor tile and underlayment in two bathrooms, replacing doors and making repairs, replacing a ceiling fan, anchoring the railing in the back, and some painting and mulching.

If you have questions or comments, please call R. C. Hall at 690-5263.
