Our inclement weather plan
When you see the skies turn gray, filled with snow or freezing rain, you might ask, "Will the church be open?" Our plan is to notify television channels 6, 8, and 12 with change notices. Also, once a decision has been made to change or cancel our worship services or other activities, we will put a message on the church voice mail, 359-6041, and an electronic message will be sent to those who receive The Reveille Window electronically. |

A Reveille Christmas:
Open House and Concert

This Sunday, December 19
A wonderful evening of Christmas carols presented by several choirs will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary and will culminate in the congregational singing of Handel's Hallelujah Chorus. The Chorus will be accompanied by chamber orchestra and organ. If you have a copy, bring your Messiah score to sing along. If you wish to sing and do not have the music, it will be provided, or simply listen and enjoy the experience and praise God for God's majesty and glory. Bring family and friends to share this Christmas experience!
The concert will be preceded by our annual open house in the Reveille House dining room and parlor beginning at 4:30 p.m. Christmas cookies and punch will be served by our United Methodist Women and beautiful harp music will be offered by Elizabeth Ayers Berry.
For more information, check our website at www.reveilleumc.org, or call 359-6041.

Help feed the homeless
Second through fifth graders will be preparing bag lunches for Richmond Friends of the Homeless in room 200 on Sunday, December 26 during Sunday school (9:30 a.m.). Each bag lunch will contain a baloney and cheese sandwich, pre-wrapped dessert, boxed drink, container of applesauce and bag of chips. The children will prepare 160 bag lunches and gladly welcome your help. Because of the holiday we are asking that the food be brought to the church one week early - this Sunday, December 19. Important information about year-end giving
Are you planning to make donations to Reveille in late December that you plan to claim on your 2010 income tax return? If the answer is yes, following are the details you need to know. Donations must be delivered or mailed and postmarked on or by December 31, 2010 in order to claim a charitable contribution deduction for 2010. Checks that are placed in the church offering during the first worship service in 2011 will not qualify for a charitable contribution deduction in 2010, even if the check is predated to 2010 or was actually written in 2010. However, checks that are written, mailed, and postmarked in 2010 will be deductible in 2010 though they are not received by Reveille until 2011. If you have any questions, please call Glynis Holcomb, financial manager, 359-6041, ext. 118.

Christmas is proof
Christmas is a time to be happy! A time for celebrating and sharing. For God stoops down to be one of us, born as a poor baby so that we can be rich. He does not leave us to get along as best we can. He joins us where we are. God is committed to us. Christmas is proof that God cares. That is why we celebrate - and show our care in turn to those who need it.
