Service of Remembrance
Sunday, December 12
The holiday season is a time when we think of loved ones who have died and for many people it can be a difficult time. To help care for people facing grief and loss in the holiday season, Congregational Care will hold a Service of Remembrance on Sunday, December 12, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. We will sing familiar hymns, read scripture, pray and hear an informal message. The service will close with lighting candles of remembrance. The service is a time to acknowledge our feelings of loss and remember those who now live in our hearts. We hope this is a time when we are comforted through our fellowship together and through the Christmas message that we hear in scripture and song. Whatever the nature of your loss and however long you have borne it, we welcome you to join us. Refreshments will follow the service in the church parlor. |

Get Glorious Gifts!
As an alternative to giving cologne to your child's teacher, who can't wear it because of the allergic student in her class, or yet another plaid shirt to your grandpa, please consider giving Glorious Gifts. An alternative gift-giving program, Glorious Gifts provides an opportunity for you to help support our outreach projects by making a donation to one of these organizations. In return, you will receive a card to send to the person whose name it was given in honor of. For instance, in honor of Grandpa, you could "give" nails and some 2 x 4's to Rebuilding Together. Grandpa will receive a card notifying him of the gift given in his honor, and he won't have to pretend that he really needs another shirt. Meanwhile, Rebuilding Together will receive the building supplies so much needed.
Glorious Gifts will be at Reveille again this Sunday, December 12, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall or you can make your purchases online at www.reveilleumc.org through Friday, December 17.

Sharing the Love of Christ campaign continues
The Sharing the Love of Christ stewardship campaign for Reveille's 2011 operating budget has passed the 50 percent mark as we move toward our goal of 400 pledges. Thanks to everyone who has participated already and has helped get the campaign off to a good start.
If you have not yet turned in your pledge card, there's still time! You can place your pledge card in the offering plate at any Sunday worship service, mail it in or drop it by the church office. If possible, please consider making your pledge by December 31. Pledge cards are available at The Point, in the chapel and sanctuary and the church office (call 359-6041 to have a card mailed to your home).
Remember, the primary goal of the Sharing the Love of Christ campaign is to broaden Reveille's financial base and involve everyone in supporting the church's outstanding ministries, outreach projects, educational classes, children and youth programs, and much more. The operating budget funds all of Reveille's activities and day-to-day efforts - and our pledges are the key component of the operating budget.
For more information about pledging and stewardship at Reveille, log on to www.reveilleumc.org.
Sharing the Love of Christ campaign update:
Pledges goal: 400
Pledges received through December 5: 242 (226 adult, 16 youth/children)

New playground equipment coming soon
We are happy to announce that the weekday school will install new playground equipment December 13-15. A large sandbox has been added to the three-year-old playground as well.
There has been a great deal of research on playground design. Children need to have many opportunities to connect to nature given the limited opportunities to wander in the woods and engage in imaginative play. We want to provide equipment that encourages children to use their imagination and think creatively. Play is very important for young children.
We have included musical instruments on all three playgrounds. The large train on the three-year-old playground will offer opportunities for dramatic play, climbing, sliding, balance, and strength development.

EFT: An easy way to give
There's an easier way to give to Reveille Church - Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), which allows your offering to be debited automatically from your bank account on a monthly basis.
There are no checks to write, no cash to gather, no envelopes to locate. EFT also is easier for church staff, since there are no deposit slips and no trips to the bank. It's even simpler than paying through your online BillPay account, which still sends Reveille a check.
Reveille currently is in the midst of the Sharing the Love of Christ stewardship campaign, but you don't have to make a new pledge to take advantage of Electronic Funds Transfer. EFT payments can be initiated at any time.
To complete an EFT authorization form or for more information, please contact Reveille Financial Manager Glynis Holcomb at 359-6041, ext. 118 or finances@reveilleumc.org.
