Reveille Days Begin:

Loving, Knowing and Serving God

September 12: Loving God through Worship and Music

Our love of God grows deeper and is renewed each week in worship through word and music and song.  In our worship services on September 12, we celebrate our adult, youth, and children's choirs and their leaders.  We give thanks for the music ministry of CrossPoint and all who provide leadership for The Point. We recognize the manifold ways in which worship at Reveille is made rich and beautiful by acolytes, crucifers, lay readers, ushers, and the altar guild, and special occasion decorating committee.  We will recognize our worship committee and all whose contributions enhance our worship experience.  Also, our children's and youth choirs begin practice this week.

Spa for the Soul

A Retreat for Mothers and Daughters

We live in a noisy world, crowded with demands. What would happen if we stepped away for a day?  We will create a space to enjoy ourselves in the company of other girls and women. Girls: You'll get to tell moms some things you wish they knew. Moms: You'll get a chance to listen deeply to your daughters. We'll all be reminded that our bodies, minds, and souls are good gifts. And we will wonder about what God wants us to dream and to do. When we leave this place, we will be stronger, braver, and more able to hear God's call. And the noisy world? It will still be there when we get back.

Join the youth of Reveille UMC for a 25-hour retreat, beginning on September 24 at 6:00 p.m.

at Westview-on-the-James in Goochland.

Our retreat leaders are the Reverend Dr. Dori Baker, a United Methodist minister, writer, and author of Doing Girlfriend Theology: God-Talk with Young Women, and Lindsey Williams, a graduate student in clinical psychology at Western Michigan University and author of the forthcoming book Ten Things Your Daughter Wished You Knew.

To register, get a check to Dwayne for $30 per person (moms or daughters) by September 12.  Please make checks payable to Reveille UMC.  Contact Dwayne for more information at dwayne@reveilleumc.org.

                                                       Youth Group News 65%

School buses are already on the road. Marching bands and football teams are in practice. That means fall is almost here and youth group is about to kick off.

New sixth graders: Welcome to youth group!  Come join some of our youth ministry team for mini golf at Bogey's in Goochland on Saturday, September 11 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. Please RSVP with Dwayne (dwayne@reveilleumc.org) so he knows to expect you.

Sunday, September 12, youth group kicks off with dinner and group games.  At 5:30 p.m., immediately following youth choir, we will share some fried chicken and outdoor games.  Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet or even painted.  Please bring $3 to offset the cost of dinner.

Tatiana and Jose continue to need your support; our youth group committed $60/month to provide for them.  You can see an update on Jose on the youth bulletin board outside the senior high room.  Please bring your donation so we can honor our commitment.

Once again, Reveille's youth will participate in Welborne UMC's annual Ultimate Frisbee tournament to benefit cancer research through Project ASK.  The competition is at Collegiate on Sunday, September 26, from approximately 1:00-6:00 p.m.  We hope to field teams for both the high school and middle school leagues.  To register for one of our teams, give Dwayne a check for $25 (made out to Reveille) and your t-shirt size. The deadline is September 12.

Parents of teens: Don't forget the mandatory parents' meeting on Sunday, September 19 at 12:15 p.m.  Please RSVP with Dwayne by September 16 so he can prepare lunch details.

September 26    Saul Becomes the King   1 Samuel 9:1-10:16

Each fall, first graders participate in a special series of lessons called Children in Worship, designed to help them prepare for worshipping fully with the congregation. Classes will meet on Sunday mornings from September 12 through November 21, 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon in room 03.  On the last Sunday each participating child will receive the gift of their very own hymnal during the 11:00 worship service.

All children will go to their new classes on September 12.  Parents will receive additional information before that Sunday.

If you have questions, please contact Carol Uzzle, Minister for Teaching and Learning.
