About Jacqueline
Have you forgotten a person's name two minutes after being introduced? Have you insulted an international client by using humor inappropriately? Have you ever forwarded an e-mail to the wrong person by mistake and not realized it until it was too late? Missteps in any situation calling for the right business etiquette can severely damage your reputation and effectiveness as a manager and can reflect poorly on your company.
In today's increasingly culturally diverse workforce, the chances of saying or doing "the wrong thing" are much greater than ever before. The past three decades have been a time of increasing informality in the workplace and a transition to a fast-paced, high-tech existence for most Americans. Additionally, this is the first time in history that four generations - those who lived through World War II, Baby Boomers, Generation X and Generation Y - are together in the workplace. Each generation's communication style can differ dramatically and can cause chaos and confusion. In short, the changing business environment demands that corporate executives on all levels master the principles of etiquette as quickly and thoroughly as possible in order to avoid the serious ramifications of inappropriate behavior, poor judgment, or cultural insensitivity.
Jacqueline Whitmore, CSP, is an international etiquette and image expert, author, spokesperson and television commentator who has helped thousands of people around the world learn to be more confident and courteous in business and social situations. She has appeared on a variety of national television shows including ABC's 20/20, The Fox Report with Shepard Smith, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360°, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, ExtraTV and CNBC.
Jacqueline has been featured or quoted in The New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Glamour, Time, Fortune, Cosmopolitan, Women's Day, Women's Health, and O: The Oprah Magazine, among others.
If you are looking for ways to identify and avoid common etiquette pitfalls, gain the competitive advantage, polish your personal brand, and build a stronger rapport with clients and customers, America's foremost etiquette authority, Jacqueline Whitmore, will show you how.

Domestic Staff Spotlight
~ Featuring ~
Joy Bunville
Q: How did you get started in the Industry? A: I began in Household Management as a Social Worker: I was a Family Educator for a house of eight boys aged eleven to seventeen. The Family Education Team and I had to maintain the different children's personalities, their schoolwork and attendance, their extra -curricular activities, therapy sessions and medications and the upkeep of the home. There is so much more to this than I have mentioned, but the maintenance with back up plans in different scenarios works! This experience going forward demonstrated my ability to multi-task efficiently within time constraints and transition from an Assistant into the position of a House Manager. Q: Do you have any formal training or degrees for domestic management? A: No, I do not have formal training or a degree in Household Management: However, my undergraduate degree is in English with a concentration in Philosophy, which enables me to articulate well the points of detail until everyone is on the same page. I am also able to listen carefully to all sides of a conversation to come to (what I always hope for) as a collaborative conclusion. This formal education with my life experience is called on-the-job-training and never giving up because I am victorious in under all circumstances! Q: What have been some of the more difficult situations that you have run into on the job? A: I have had to get services reconnected immediately that unexplainably went out. Regardless of the apparent situation or cause, I must (to the greatest of my ability) return the sought after answer by my boss-which is YES. So with a pleasant and amenable disposition, I made many phone calls during which I spoke with supervisors, faxed all paperwork to verify the services---Then the services were reconnected within an hour. Q: What type of principal or homeowner do you prefer to work for? A: I prefer to work with a principal and/or homeowner who trusts me completely to handle all tasks after I have been given the instructions. However, I also enjoy working with a boss who listens and genuinely delights in collaboration projects. Q: What direction would like to see the domestic industry go in for the future? A: The Domestic Industry will be great with a union structure. The people that work in this industry deserve to be treated fairly, honestly, and with the integrity that the principal and/or homeowner expects from strangers. This is called human compassion and courtesy. Q: What are your goals for the future? A: My family goals within the next five years are to have our permanent home placement until my daughter graduates from high school. My personal goals are to finish my book, have it published, write a bit more, and to have my daughter and I work in the entertainment industry continually. My full-time Domestic Industry goal is to establish a trusting work relationship with a couple and/or individual who is interested in maintaining a permanent and excellent right hand person to diligently handle their lives. Q: What are your interests and hobbies? A: The biggest and best interest I have is in people: I love to observe and interact with people-I learn so much and we, as people, are to learn something new every day-if we do not learn something new every day, we are dead. My biggest and best interest is writing through my journal or working a story with the input of life. |
