The Peace Flag Project Banner
Greetings!

The holiday season is fast approaching, and winter's chill has settled here in the Northeast. After our big Peace Day event in September, the PFP and I hibernate for a time. Being cozy and quiet can be luscious. BUT the holidays are almost here, and the joy, excitement and glow of these special days work their magic.

I was once heard someone refer "the endless repetition of unrepeatable days." While we have many highs and lows in our lives, we mostly live in the repetition of these unrepeatable days. I treasure the gentle rhythms of our everyday lives.

I'm always glad that Thanksgiving begins the celebrations. Expressing gratitude is so important for all of us, and feeling gratitude is vital in life. How lovely that we have a holiday that focuses on being grateful for the miracles of our ordinary lives.

I wanted to send along Thanksgiving greetings and share with you one of my favorite poems. May you be blessed and know the worth of those blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Ginny

A Prayer for the World: Rabbi Harold Kushner
A Prayer for the World
Let the rain come and wash away

the ancient grudges, the bitter hatred
held and nurtured over the generations.

Let the rain wash away the memory

    of the hurt, the neglect.

Then, let the sun come out and

           fill the sky with rainbows.

Let the warmth of the sun heal us
   wherever we are broken.

Let it burn away the fog so that

we can see each other clearly

So that we can see beyond labels,
beyond accents, gender or skin color.

  Let the warmth and brightness
of the sun melt our selfishness.

So that we can share the joys and

feel the sorrows of our neighbors.

And let the light of the sun

be so strong that we will see all

          people as our neighbors.

Let the earth, nourished by the rain,

bring forth flowers to surround us with beauty.

And let the mountains teach our hearts
           to reach upward to heaven.
