Looking to sell? Build a nice front porch
The results of the American Institute of Architects' most recent survey regarding consumer design preferences shows a growing trend towards multi-generational housing.
The economic downturn has spurned a
new wave of multi-generational living, with different generations of families living under one roof.
According to the survey, participants cited areas for community gathering -- such as
front and side porches -- as important aspects of a home as well.
As the population ages,
single story living is also increasing more in popularity.
For the green side of building,
solar panels and sustainable (cooling) roofs are noticing an uptick in installations.
