The American Institute of Architects recently released the results of an interesting survey about consumer preferences in the housing industry.

The results of the American Institute of Architects' most recent survey regarding consumer design preferences shows a growing trend towards multi-generational housing.

The economic downturn has spurned a new wave of multi-generational living, with different generations of families living under one roof.

According to the survey, participants cited areas for community gathering -- such as front and side porches -- as important aspects of a home as well.

As the population ages, single story living is also increasing more in popularity.

For the green side of building, solar panels and sustainable (cooling) roofs are noticing an uptick in installations.

"The Railroad Ave revitalization project is inspired by a desire to re-invent and re-purpose an iconic local building to create an asset for the community and incorporate green building solutions.

This site is designed to create a conversation about ideas an options for the former Goodrich Lumber property on Railroad Avenue in Duxbury, Mass.

A growing number of residents have suggested that it would be a perfect place for an indoor sports complex. There are lots of positives associated with this idea.

Duxbury has a reputation for excellence in sports. An indoor facility close to the schools could enhance this reputation and provide the opportunity to practice throughout the year.

The current building is structurally sound and could be re-purposed for this facility."
