Greetings!

Good news in the housing industry as median home prices rise in Massachusetts. Also in this issue: how to make the best out of a small, narrow space with a clever renovation.
Median home prices in Massachusetts rise in December
The Warren Group and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors reported that the median home price in Massachusetts rose 10 percent last month, the "first year-to-year gain in over two years."

For homes on the Cape, the increase was even higher at 13 percent.

Remodeling a D.C. rowhouse to add more natural light and space
The Washington Post recently profiled a home in the D.C. area that took advantage of a renovation to allow more light and space into its relatively small area. The rowhouses on the street are about the width of one front door and a window. The homeowner decided to remodel the existing bedrooms upstairs to create more living space, tucked away storage areas under the spiral staircase, and installed a modern gas fireplace. The remodel allows so much light into the otherwise narrow home that the homeowner doesn't need to turn the lights on when it's cloudy out.

The home also takes advantage of green elements, such as bamboo flooring downstairs and solar panels on the roof. Read more here.
