Home energy monitoring devices help save money on utility costs
While last week's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas featured gadgets such as new tablet PCs, the expo also featured some innovative new technology to help you save money on home energy costs.

Home energy monitoring devices are currently available on the market, but there's many to choose from and the task can be a bit daunting. The varieties are endless: simple devices that monitor electricity consumption, to full system configurations that track every bit of energy usage in a home.

The new systems introduced at CES include the simplified "EMS100" by Control4. It is a wireless, touchscreen device that can control your thermostat while providing you with energy statistics. It can also connect to the internet and provide you with weather and traffic updates. View video of the EMS100 at CNET.com TV

Black & Decker's EM100B Power Monitor tracks electricity usage and will retail for less than the Control4 model.
