Video: What is radiant heating?
What is radiant heating, why does it work better than radiators or forced air systems, and why is it considered an important component of green building?
Radiant heating is a method of heating a home or structure under the flooring. Heated water runs through special tubing under the floor, creating a more uniform temperature and comfort level for the room as the heat rises. This saves money and energy since the temperature is even throughout the room. Dust and allergens aren't kicked up by forced air vents, and wall space can be utilized where a heater or radiator may have been. Silvia & Silvia Associates is experienced in the installation of radiant heating systems. Our newly constructed boat maintenance facility at Oyster Harbors Marine in Osterville, MA utilizes the technology.
