Silvia & Silvia and Barnstable Land Trust
Silvia & Silvia is proud to contribute to our local community. In the newest issue of the Barnstable Land Trust's newsletter, Silvia & Silvia's partnership with the Trust is detailed in an article about the history of BLT in the last decade. Barnstable Land Trust is a non-profit dedicated to preserving the open spaces and natural resources of the town of Barnstable. Below is an excerpt:
"[Barnstable Land Trust] received a donation from Floyd and Ronald Silvia of Silvia & Silvia Associates, a custom home and remodeling company. The brothers said they made the donation to set an example for other businesses.
What the Silvias didn't know was that they would inspire BLT to create a Green Fund to attract and earmark monies for major purchases; that, in turn, would enable BLT to take on far more complicated projects. The timing was perfect. In this new era, the Green Fund helped put BLT at the forefront of land conservation efforts."
We applaud the efforts of Barnstable Land Trust and are excited about our involvement in an important conservation effort.

The Associated Press reported last week the nationwide percentage of new home construction jumped 3.6% last month. "Construction of new U.S. homes rose in June to
the highest level in seven months, a sign builders are starting to
regain confidence as they emerge from the housing bust. The
Commerce Department said Friday that construction of new homes and
apartments jumped 3.6 percent last month to a seasonally adjusted
annual rate of 582,000 units, from an upwardly revised rate of 562,000
in May." Read more here. |
