Convention 2011, one for the record books!

As the 38th annual IBANYS convention comes to a close, we are reflecting on some of the great highlights of the event. All of our speakers did a tremendous job, including keynotes "Mr. President" and Dick Morris. The session topics were informative, timely, and spot on for our industry. We would like to send a special thank you to all of our sponsors who helped make this such a beautiful event.  The staff at the Gideon Putnum was amazing, and every whim we or our guests had was met with a smile.

The best part of the convention was seeing you there, and feeling the energy and new life you are all breathing into the Independent Bankers Association of New York State. This is just the tip of the iceberg for where this association is headed, and you can help make it even better. Call those non-member banks and tell them about your experiences with us, and get those friends and colleagues involved in our upcoming Regional Meetings. You can also help by sending us your ideas, thoughts, concerns, feelings, and experiences from the convention. We'd love to share your convention stories with other members!

Compliance Peer Council forming

IBANYS is proud to announce the formation of a Compliance Peer Council.  Co-Chairs of the council are IBANYS members Frank Sarratori, General Counsel for Pioneer Bank, and Hilde Neubauer, General Counsel for Alden State Bank.

The focus of the Council will be to gather compliance resources from members and non-members to create a central interactive and collaborative educational tool for all levels of compliance needs throughout our industry. The Council's purpose will be to create a compliance resource that provides a group forum for discussing practical and emerging hot topic compliance issues and the overall legislative environment.

Please be on the lookout for a special letter from IBANYS Chairman Paul Mello about the Compliance Peer Council, and for more information about how you can get involved.
