Last Minute Convention Info.

This year's convention is overflowing with people, programs, and booths!  See below for all the latest information.

  •  The Gideon Putnum and Hilton Garden Inn are both sold out. Please make arrangements at other Saratoga hotels if you haven't done so already.
  •  If you are staying in the Hilton Garden Inn, remember you have to purchase food tickets for all convention meals you plan to attend. Gideon Putnum guests are covered in the meal plan.
  • Hurricane Irene is making it's way across the Atlantic, and may end up right in our backyard. Please plan accordingly for bad weather if you plan on going to any of the outings. We will not cancel the outing to the Race Course or to golf unless it is torrential or unsafe.
  • If it does happen to be nasty outside, don't worry! We'll have plenty of indoor fun for you. We're not going to let a little hurricane rain on our parade!
  • The Silent Auction items are AMAZING this year. Please plan accordingly to be able to bid high, and bid often! You won't want to miss it, and the money you'll be spending benefits PAC.
  • Expect some great surprises this year. I'm not at liberty to say anymore.
  • If you have any questions about anything convention-related, e-mail us! We'd be happy to help however we can.
  • We'll have a signup sheet at the Registration Table to leave your e-mail and/or phone number. Over the weekend, we will send text or e-mail information regarding any changes in the weather,  program changes, or cancellations. Please sign up to get up-to-the-minute information!

Fracking Meeting Announcement

IBANYS will host a fracking meeting this fall, to discuss how hydro-fracking in New York State will impact community banks. Topics of concern include land ownership, mortgages, leasing rights, etc.

Customizable Release on Student Credit

ICBA encouraged college students to be responsible with their credit cards as they begin heading back to school. In a national news release and a customizable version that community bankers can use in their communities, ICBA outlined new rules governing credit cards and offered tips on using credit cards wisely. Among the tips, ICBA encouraged students to set up and follow a budget, pay on time and keep account information confidential. "Community bankers want to be sure that students learn how to use consumer credit wisely so that they establish good credit and build a foundation that will serve them well when they are ready to buy a car or a home or pursue their dreams of owning a small business," ICBA Chairman Sal Marranca said.

A Shorter E-Newsletter??

You may have noticed that this week's newsletter was smaller than in weeks past. We're just going ahead full steam here at IBANYS, gearing up for what looks like an amazing Annual Convention. We'll be back next week with a normal-sized newsletter.
