Success and rewards for JCU Professors
February has been a rewarding month for JCU Professors Aaron Carpene (Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music) and Barbara Castaldo (Adjunct Assistant Professor of Italian).
Professor Carpene has become a member of the prestigious Accademia d'Arcadia in Milan. The Professor will be the Roman delegate in the artistic staff and a collaborator in their research projects. Already he has taken on the task of publishing a critical edition of he cantatas with instruments by the composer Giovanni Bononcini.
Professor Castaldo was awarded the Pier Paolo Pasolini Award for the best graduate thesis. Her doctorate thesis, titled "Imputato Pasolini: una rilettura dei processi fra diritto e letteratura" (Defendant Pasolini: A Reading of the Trials between Law and Literature). The jury based its decision and remarks on the "interesting application of law and literature studies to the judicial affairs of Pasolini, to the considerations of his work, and to the theory of law and desire." |

JCU signs agreement with La Scuola d'Italia
An agreement for cooperation has been signed between JCU and La Scuola d'Italia "Guglielmo Marconi" in New York, NY. This agreement provides scholarships for Italian students to come to Rome for their university studies as well as providing teachers with an opportunity to take courses for their professional development. Welcoming this new cooperation, President of JCU Franco Pavoncello says, "JCU has always tried to build bridges between the United States and Italy and it is a pleasure to work with La Scuola d'Italia 'Guglielmo Marconi' and facilitate educational exchanges between the United States and Italy." |

JCU President Explains Obama's Healther Reform Proposal in Minerva Magazine
JCU President Pavoncello's article "La seconda rivoluzione americana" ("The Second American Revolution") appears in the January/February issue of the Italian magazine Minerva. The article discusses the historic challenges faced by US President Barack Obama in his effort to reform American health care.
