Off to a Good Start in High School
 

Like the fireman whose clothes and boots are laid out so he can jump on the truck at a moment's notice, getting yourself organized and ready for a new school year can really help you get off to a good start.

 

In high school, it's up to you to structure your own time and study routines, and how you do that makes all the difference in how successful you'll be. Study habits that are effective for you-realistic about your strengths and weaknesses-will leave mind space available for the reason you go to school: to learn. Here are some tips: Read more 

 

 
Half of Teenagers With Autism Bullied

 

Close to half of all teenagers with an autism spectrum disorder are bullied at school, says a survey of their parents.

 

The results, published Monday in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, suggest that rate is much higher than the estimated 11 percent of bullied kids in the general population.  

 

Previous studies have found kids and teens who are bullied tend to be more depressed, lonely and anxious and do worse in school than those who aren't picked on, according to the researchers.

 

That means bullying could make things extra difficult for those with autism, who may already struggle more in school than other kids. Read more 

 

  
Enuresis
 
Enuresis is a disorder characterized by urinary incontinence in children five years old and up. Though it's commonly called bed wetting, the disorder encompasses any
abnormal urinary voiding that occurs, day or night. Some children with enuresis may not notice that they need to go to the bathroom. Others may realize that they need to urinate but then become distracted and forget until it is too late. While most children outgrow enuresis, the disorder can cause them great embarrassment and may create a strain on the whole family. Fortunately, effective behavioral and pharmacological treatment is widely available. Read more
