6TH  ANNUAL HEART & HOPE CONFERENCE
 

Family Network on Disabilities, in partnership with Dunedin Highland Middle School, is hosting the 6th Annual Heart and Hope Statewide Family Conference in Pinellas County on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The conference will be held from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm at Dunedin Highland Middle School, 70 Patricia Avenue, Dunedin, Florida.

 

Family Network on Disabilities will be joined by representatives from the Florida Department of Education, FDLRS, the YMCA, and much more in order to provide families and professionals with current and valuable information on topics such as RTI, Restraint and Seclusion, Self-Determination, Learning Styles, and Rights and Responsibilities. 0.6 CEU's are being offered to professionals for $15.

 

This free event is designed to help bring individuals who are at risk, families who have children with disabilities and the professionals who serve them awareness of their options and rights that are available to them within the school system and beyond. One-on-one IEP assistance will be available by appointment. KidCamp will be available for children and lunch will be provided for all participants. All for free!

 

Family Network on Disabilities is a national network of individuals of all ages who may be at-risk, have disabilities, or have special needs and their families, professionals, and concerned citizens. The mission of Family Network on Disabilities is to ensure through collaboration that individuals have full access to family-driven support, education, information, resources, and advocacy and to serve families of children with disabilities, ages birth through 26, who have the full range of disabilities described in section 602(3) of IDEA. Anorexia Nervosa 

     

 Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by severe weight loss, a dangerously low body weight, and a distorted body image that drives an otherwise high-functioning person-usually a young woman-to starve herself. People with Anorexia keep themselves underweight by eating sparsely and infrequently, as well as purging-voiding food by induced vomiting, laxative use, etc.-and exercising intensely, often without recognizing that their actions are unhealthy: Read more:

After-school and summer camp for general population and students with disabilities ages 6-12 years. This inclusion-focused program targets children living in low socioeconomic communities, Title 1 schools, and/or those with special needs such as mental, physical and emotional disabilities. Program activities include: academic assessments, tutoring with a focus on literacy development, science enrichment, and recreational programs that promote development of the "whole child" utilizing Biscayne Bay as a living classroom. Program includes a high school mentoring component for at-risk and ESE elementary and middle school students.

Independence Drive Rehabilitation Program
 

Our Vision Independence Drive offers services to preserve, promote and improve independent, safe, and appropriate driving and community mobility for people challenged by disabilities related to trauma, disease, or aging. The Independence Drive (I-Drive) Rehabilitation Program includes Shands Rehab clinical services at Shands Rehab Center, Magnolia Parke and University of Florida clinical services at the Villages. I-Drive applies the latest research findings to driver safety, with much of that research undertaken at the University of Florida's Institute for Mobility, Activity and Participation (I-MAP).
