2012 Text4baby State Enrollment Contest

 

  

National, state, and local text4baby partners nationwide are working together to connect pregnant women and new moms to health information they need. The 2012 Text4baby State Enrollment Contest is supporting this work at the state level through healthy competition. The contest was established in 2011 and grew out of the enthusiasm of text4baby partners like you around promoting text4baby as a valuable health resource for women and families.

Every year, cancer claims the lives of more than a quarter of a million women in America. Women can reduce their cancer risk by adopting a healthy lifestyle and getting the right cancer screening tests for their stage of life.

Diabetes and Pregnancy
 

 

If you are a woman with diabetes, you still can have a

 healthy baby. You need to take extra care before and

during your pregnancy. Learn how to get ready for a healthy pregnancy. If you are a woman with diabetes, you still can have a healthy baby. Talk with your doctor about whether it is safe for you to become pregnant. Ask your doctor what you need to do before you get pregnant, how to prevent pregnancy while you are getting your blood sugar under control, and how to keep your blood sugar under tight control both before and during your pregnancy. If you find that you are pregnant before your blood sugar in control, the best way to care for your

baby is to start now to control your blood sugar. Talk

with your doctor to learn how.

 

Controlling your diabetes before and during your pregnancy will help prevent such problems as birth defects, prematurity, miscarriage, and stillbirth.

Strong emotions like fear, sadness, or other symptoms of depression are normal, as long as they are temporary and don't interfere with daily activities. If these emotions last too long or cause other problems, it's a different story.

Bev Baker Announced as the New NCFPP Co-Director
 

 
It is with excitement that Family Voices announces the hiring of Bev Baker as the NCFPP Co-Director effective June 18, 2012 at 75% time. Bev will deepen her rich history of collaboration with Family Voices in this new capacity of co-leading the NCFPP with Nora Wells. The NCFPP Projectpromotes family- professional partnerships through technical assistance to family leaders, multiple activities with professional partners, and documentation of the impact of this work.The Co-Project Directors of NCFPP initiate the goals and objectives for the project, secure funding, and oversee the implementation of the project.
