Imagine This...

You and your spouse arrive at the hospital for the birth of your first child. The pregnancy was uneventful and you have the baby's room ready for the new arrival.

After delivery, though, you are told that your child will be unable to walk. You are told that the child that you have been eagerly awaiting to arrive for the last nine months will never be able to walk unassisted.

What do you do? Where do you turn? The hospital has given you the contact information of doctors that you will need to see - maybe they have even scheduled your first appointment.   Do you just wait now until that appointment? Are there other things to consider? Are there options for assistance?

Family Network on Disabilities is here to help.   We are here to help you navigate a system that you never thought you would need. We are here to help ensure that your child lives as fulfilling a life as possible, from infancy, through the school years, and into adulthood. Our staff has already been where you are. They understand what you're going through and what you need to get through it. Because of that, they are able to offer valuable support through the most difficult of times.

If this hasn't happened to you, chances are it (or something like it) has happened to someone you know. We can't stop it from happening. We don't have the ability to prevent disabilities.  However, we do have the ability to provide family-driven support, information, education, resources, and advocacy to people with disabilities and those who love them. Maybe we've already helped you. Maybe you're still looking for help. We're looking for you, too.

We believe that everyone has intrinsic value and the inherent right to respect, independence, knowledge, freedom of choice, inclusion, quality of life, success, and equality.

Please make a donation today so that we can continue to reach out to families in need. Please give so that we can continue to help children with disabilities realize success. Please give so that we can continue to offer hope to families who have suddenly found their lives spiraling turned upside down.

Help us reach our goal of $5,000 by December 31, 2011. This $5,000 will help the family in this story and hundreds like them. Can you spare $10 for this cause? $ 5? More? Less? The choice is yours, but please help.
