FAMILY NETWORK ON DISABILITIES HOSTS CHILDREN'S WEEK EVENT November 2, 2011 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dunedin, Florida -- Family Network on Disabilities will be hosting a Children's Week event at the Greater Palm Harbor Branch of the YMCA at 1600 16th Street, Palm Harbor. The event will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, November 12, 2011. Sponsors of the event include the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA and The Disability Achievement Center. This event will provide free food and fun activities for families. There will be arts and crafts and the Palm Harbor Library will provide story-time. The theme of this year's event is disability awareness so there will be many activities devoted to that. Families will enjoy a wheelchair obstacle course, charades, playing with adaptive toys and much more. "Children's Week activities put a much-needed spotlight on issues facing our children,'' said Children's Week organizer Jason Zaborske. "This is a great opportunity to bring thousands of parents, children, professionals, advocates, community leaders and concerned citizens together to share valuable knowledge and information about children's issues across the state and in our state Capitol." In addition, during the months of December and January, children in schools and child care centers across Florida are coloring and designing paper cut-outs of their hands which will travel to Tallahassee to hang in the State Capitol Rotunda during Children's Week (January 29 - 3). Children attending the event at the YMCA will have an opportunity to create handprints to be taken to the Capitol by the staff of Family Network on Disabilities.
