Free Webinar! "Letting Go: Time to Land the Helicopter"
Please join us at 8:00pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2011, as the TILES project of Family Network on Disabilities hosts Mark Keith from Outreach Services for the Blind and the Deaf. "Letting Go" is a workshop designed for parents to help their teens with disabilities become successful young adults post high school. All parents experience roadblocks when "cutting the apron strings" from raising a child to now parenting a young adult. Letting go after a lifetime of caring for your special needs child is even more difficult. This workshop will address those roadblocks and strategies to assist your family during this time of transition. This is a free webinar. Parents of the Panhandle Information Network (POPIN) Regional Conference
Registration is open for The POPIN Regional Conference being held Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 9:00am until 4:30pm at Howard Bishop Middle School in Gainesville (MAP). There is no cost to attend the conference. Free childcare is also available. Program Overviews will be given by Early Learning Coalition, Child Advocacy Center of Gainesville, Agency for Persons with Disabilities, Family Care Council, Florida Inclusion Network, Florida Outreach Project, and FND's Family STAR project. Other presentations topics will be Massage Therapy for Infants and Children, IEP to IPE, Collaborative Communication, How to Start Your Own Business, and FCAT. Information will be on-hand from Children's Medical Services, Delmarva Foundation, Discovery Toys, Noah's Endeavor, The Florida State Parental Information and Resource Center of FND, and Special Olympics of Alachua County. We Connect Now: Website for College Students with Disabilities
We Connect Now is a website dedicated to uniting people interested in rights and issues affecting people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on college students and access to higher education and employment issues.

The 5th Annual SPARC Conference STAND-Pinellas Accessing Resources Conference
The 5th Annual SPARC Conference will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 8:00am until 4:30pm at Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School in Largo, FL (MAP). This is a Florida statewide conference on exceptional student education. Florida Crossroads Magazine
Florida Crossroads Magazine is published bi-monthly and is Florida's Magazine for Special Needs Families. The June/July issue has information on IDEA and private schools, music therapy and more. It also includes an article on Family Network on Disabilities and the programs we offer.

Jan La Belle Scholarship Program
The Jan La Belle Scholarship Program was established in 2009 to provide a financial resource to individuals with disabilities who desire to pursue their personal and career goals through attendance at a postsecondary institution.
The first scholarships were awarded from this program in March of this year. The application for the 2011/2012 scholarship will be available on September 15. Eligibility criteria is:
· Applicant must be an individual with a disability;
· Applicant must be a Florida resident;
· Applicant must be an individual 16 to 24 years of age who is entering as a first time student at any institution of higher learning, whether academic or vocational.
