Featured Customer: Trophies Plus

This month's featured customer is Trophies Plus, a supplier of custom recognition products, located in Templeton, Iowa. For over 25 years, Trophies Plus has supplied customers worldwide with chenille letters, trophies, plaques, medals, ribbons and awards. When owner Jim Jensen decided to look into ways to achieve more vibrant, full-color prints, he discovered the Direct Jet 1324 - the perfect solution to improve his full-color product offering.

"We had been sublimating for years, but after seeing the new technology that Direct Color could provide we were confident that we could take what we were doing on plaques, acrylics and other color items to a whole new level," Jim says.

"We are using the Direct Jet 1324 primarily to produce full-color plaques for school awards. We have started to move into the corporate award line, and we are using the machine to add color to these awards. The increased quality of colors and photos is something we could never get with sublimation. Photos and colors done on the DCS machine are amazing.

"We have been thrilled with the service that has been provided by Dave Pitzen and Tom Keyes of DCS. When we bought the machine, they were here to train us on it and provide samples, and they have been in constant communication with us to make sure that all is running well with the machine as we go through the learning process."

Featured Dealer: Applied Imaging & Information Management

Direct Color Systems is pleased to highlight our business partners new and old in each newsletter. This September, we are pleased to introduce the newest distributor of DCS printers: Applied Imaging & Information Management, located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

introduced to DCS direct-to-substrate small-format printers

Applied Imaging has been in the graphics industry since 1991, when they first started selling paper and supplies to the CAD industry. They have since branched out into large-format scanners and printers, software and specialized consumables. The most recent additions to their product offering are the DCS Flex33 and Direct Jet line.

Antony Bartlett, Managing Director at Applied Imaging, explains why these printers were a good fit: "We are very involved in supplying the copy shop industry and believed that these products would fill a gap in our product lineup for this sector, as well as various sectors in the manufacturing and mining industries."

"At this stage we are a bit new in this sector of the market, but we were pleasantly surprised by the new applications that were discussed with us at the August 2011 Sign & Graphics Show. Our main interest is that the equipment is ideal for short-run specialized print applications."

Direct Color Systems looks forward to supporting Antony and Applied Imaging every step of the way as they expand into their regional specialized print market.
