Sharing Prayers and Thanksgiving
In the northern hemisphere autumn has arrived. With it has come the changing of the leaves. I might say that in Nashville, Tennessee we have seen some particularly spectacular specimens of color. With autumn comes the time in which we in North America, and in other places, celebrate our Thanksgiving Day. A time of thanksgiving also leads the grateful heart into a time of prayer, of both petition and praise. With this issue we want to offer our prayers for the Global Stone-Campbell Movement family and Thanksgiving to both God and you for faithful provision of this ministry.

Prayers and Thanksgiving

We Thank You!
There are many ways to support the ministry of World Convention, one of which is sharing information that we can then pass along to the global family. We thank the Editors of the following periodicals for sending to us free copies of their magazines and papers:
Christian Standard,
DisciplesWorld, Christian Chronicle, Christian Worker, One Body, Horizons,
plus several regional papers and mission newsletters. We value these gifts and thank you!

If you edit a periodical, either in electronic or hard copy, would you consider adding us to your mailing list?

December 28-January 1, 2010 are the dates for the European Mid-Winter Rally to be held at Colditz Castle, Colditz, Germany. The theme of the Rally is What's Not Right Here with Willard Black as speaker. Contact Randy Smelser to attend.
We pray that from this rally will come a renewed sense of the need for Christ in Europe.

For all the missions around the globe who live for Christ in word and deed, we bless you!
Add us to your mailing list so that we might share in your ministry.
We are grateful for those with the ministry of writing that challenges us in our thinking and call us to a greater understanding of the Word. Such an example is the new resource
Spiritual Formation and the Future of the Stone-Campbell Churches, essays by Kent Ellett, David Langford, Joe R. Jones and Carson Reed with a forward by Phillip Kenneson of Milligan College. Available at  www.KetchPublishing.com

Please send review copies of books and other resources. As space permits we will share these with the Global Family.

On November 14, Dr. Cornell Thomas will be inaugurated as 11th President of Jarvis Christian College, Hawkins, Texas. We wish Jarvis and Dr. Cornell blessings in the service of the Lord!

We also seek the Lord's blessing upon the hundreds of Stone-Campbell Movement schools around the world, from primary to graduate education.

Get Connected                                                        - Julia Keith, Global Women Connecting

"When nudges come," said a good friend of mine, "try to listen.  It's often Spirit with the next best step."

This nudge comes in the form of a word.  Penpal.  Judith in Ohio wants to teach her Sunday School children about the wider church.  Monica's class agreed to write back.  Bill told me about Julie, who found a pen-pal when she began teaching French to share lives and lessons of their cultures.  Clint forwarded an email from Walter who knows a woman looking for a pen-pal in Britain or Australia.

Do you feel nudged?

Let Global Women Connecting ([email protected]) put you in touch with a new friend.  Women, men, youth, children...everyone is welcome to begin the writing adventure!  Just send in your contact information:  first name, age, city, country and a brief description of your interests.  We'll create a list to forward to you and other interested pen-pals so each of you can make your own selection.

A few thoughts on security -

Use your email address, if available
Consider having postal mail sent to your church's address (a conversation with your minister, office secretary, missions or outreach chair person is appropriate)
Use first names only.
Do not send money, agree to private meetings, arrange for travel, solicit funds/gifts or give out personal information.

Of course, we hope to hear about the blessings you discover!  But most of all, we want you to feel a personal connection within the Stone-Campbell family - then, to act on what you feel nudged to do!
