We offer praise for rains that have come to Zimbabwe. May a good crop be realized this year so that Zimbawe may begin to recover from recent droughts.
 
Global Mission Partners of the Churches of Christ in Australia have set aside Sunday July 26 as a
Day of Prayer.
 
We join in prayer with the New Zealand Churches as they do an "extreme makeover" on a house in Richmond, Nelson. When completed the house will be sold and the funds sent to help build housing at
Khayelihle Children's Village in Zimbabwe.
 
We praise God for the successful Annual Conference held in May in Port Vila on the Island nation of Vanuatu. 200 people we in attendance.
 
   Good News Productions' India office reports that the Chandigarh Center has completed 50 Punjabi songs that share New Testament teachings. Pray for wisdom as this team works with local leaders to use audiotapes that "sing through the New Testament."

Dr. L.W. Thompson has written that the Annual Convention of the All India Churches of Christ/Christian Churches was recently held in Jowi, India. The speakers included several American and Indian presenters.Workshops, cultural programs and glorious fellowship added to the wonderful event, according to Dr. Thompson, who also shared that the Sunday morning communion service had over 3500 in attendance.

Deaf Ministries International recently shared an update that a container of building materials sent from the US to Uganda finally arrived and was released by Customs so that a new church building can be constructed for the deaf church in Kampala. 
DMI is also in need of funds to repair the roof of a deaf school in the Philippines. 
A leader of the work in Zambia was recently attacked in his home by five gunmen. Material things were stolen but he survived. Pray that his family can find a safer place to live.

North American Christian Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, June 30-July 3, will feature two related workshops. The first will be Why Celebrate Great Communion? with Dr. James B. North. Speaking of the book, One Church, A Bicentennial Celebration of Thomas Campbell's Declaration and Address, the Churches of Christ in Australia have produced a fantastic little booklet titled, The D&A is Part of Our DNA for use in preparing yourself or your congregation for the bicentennial observance. An Academic Conference at Johnson Bible College will be held September 18 and 19 celebrating the Declaration and Address. Global Women Connecting News 
Global Women Connecting President, Monica Fife and her family will visit World Convention while on furlough this summer.  We are excited to have this opportunity to meet and work together while sharing dreams and ideas for expanding the GWC ministry.
 
Tennessee Disciples Women Ministries have extended an invitation to the annual Fall Retreat at Bethany Hills, Kingston Springs, Tennessee, September 19-20, 2009.  The theme is "Half Empty, Half Full," dealing with the hearts of women.  Contact Julia Keith (worldconvjulia@aol.com) at the Women's Desk for more information.
 
Global Women Connecting celebrate with the National Federation of Kyodan Women's Societies who have recently participated in the 40th Anniversary National Assembly, June 2-3, 2009.
 
The Rapha House Vocational Training Program in Cambodia is in jeopardy due to the loss of the lease of their halfway house where comprehensive Christian care is offered to girls rescued from human trafficking and then receive vocational training and emotional support.  To learn more about this ministry please see their web site at www.freedomforgirls.org
 
Look for Global Women Connecting at the World Convention booth and breakfast at the North American Christian Convention June 30 - July 3, 2009, and at the World Convention Breakfast at the Disciples of Christ General Assembly July 30 - August 2, 2009.  We want to know more about your ministries by and for women.  There will be an opportunity to support the 2009-2012 Service Project in Bangkok, the Klong Toey slum, through a purchase of Klong Toey Handicrafts and Jewelry.
 
The non-profit organization Come Before Winter, created by women at churches of Christ in Texas, provides support to women serving as missionaries and in other leadership roles who struggle with loneliness and discouragement.  CBW will help present the Women's Tea at the NACC.  Learn more about their program at www.comebeforewinter.org.
World Convention on the Road -Order Your Breakfast Tickets Here! 
June 30-July 3 Clinton Holloway and Julia Keith will travel to Louisville, Kentucky to participate in the North American Christian Convention, where your World Convention will have a booth and a breakfast meeting at the Marriott Hotel Downtown on Friday July 3 at 7:30 am. All WC friends are invited to join us for this event. Tickets to the breakfast can be ordered for $13.50 by calling the office or sending an email to worldconv@aol.com .
 
Clint and Julia will also be at the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on Thursday July 30 where we will host a breakfast at the downtown Hyatt Hotel at 7:30 am. Tickets for the event are $13.50 and can be ordered at www.disciples.org or by calling the Convention office.
