The Commissioning Map of Priority AQP Services
A key focus for any current NHS provider wishing to deliver services in localised community service settings, will be to focus on those clustered PCTs and, in turn, their commissioning structures that are going to deliver services using the Any Qualified Provider (AQP) process.
Why is this?
Simply put, this format of commissioning and procuring allows a wider competitive field to compete for services given the reform driver - Patient Choice.
In addition, the AQP model enables providers to enter in to a dialogue to become an approved supplier post contract award.
An illustrative map of the top 3+ services being chosen by clustered PCT is in the process of being formed by the Department of Health - 7House will be issuing it to our clients as soon as it is released in January.
In the meantime, the local clustered PCTs are issuing AQP tenders - here are a few of the community service areas that are being covered:
- Continuing Health Care (East Midlands)
- Intermediate Care Beds (South East Sussex)
- GP Direct Access to Head Scanning Services (Blackpool)
- Community Based Anti-Coagulation Services (Durham and Darlington)
- Adult Elective and Diagnostic Services (South East Coast) - AQP window for new providers
- Communitty Services (South Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent) to include: MSK for back and neck pain; adult hearing; continence services;diagnostics closer to home; wheelchair services; podiatry and primary care physcological services (adult) - PIN notice.
