Celebrate the Kick Off of the New Master in Nonprofit Management Student Association!
What better way to celebrate the end of the semester and a new adventure with the Master in Nonprofit Management program? We would like to invite all Hamline School of Business Nonprofit Management faculty, staff, students, and alumni to kick off Hamline's newest addition - the Hamline MNM Student Association. Please join us on December 20, 2010 from 5:00-7:30pm. We will meet at Hamline's Minneapolis Campus (1600 Utica Ave. S, St. Louis Park, 7th Floor) from 5-5:30pm (rooms 39-40) and then head over to Ringo (5331 W 16th St., St. Louis Park). Time will be spent socializing and learning about opportunities and events with the association. Plus, if you have not yet visited the Minneapolis campus, now is your chance! Also, if you are interested in being involved in association leadership in some fashion, please contact Michael Brink at Angela Cabatbat. We hope to see you there! |

Ken Fox Negotiates in London
Ken Fox, Conflict Studies Director and HSB Associate Professor, taught a two-day executive negotiation course in London, November 29 and 30 for Finmeccanica, a global engineering company based in Rome. Ken worked with senior project managers who were participating in comprehensive management training program. |

Registration Reminder
Please remember to register for your Winter and Spring 2011 term courses as soon as possible. Students in cohort programs (MBA, MNM, MPA) please register by December 15. At that point we will start putting returning and petitioning students into the cohorts. Thank you for your attention to registration! |

Tom Walkington Goes to China
Dr. Thomas Walkington, Adjunct Professor of Public Administration, recently attended an International Seminar on the Governmental Response to the Global Financial Crisis and Excellence in Public Administration and Training in Beijing, China. Read a brief report of the seminar that included delegates from 27 countries. |
Congratulations Marcos Montero-Lares
Congratulations to Marcos Montero- Lares. Marcos successfully defended his dissertation on November 22, 2010 titled "The Implementation of ePortfolio Programs in Transformational Change: A Case Study of Three 2-year Colleges in the MnSCU System". He investigated the implementation of e-Portfolio programs and implications for transformational change among 2-year colleges in the MNSCU System. By linking implementation of ePortfolio programs with transformational change, this research contributes to public policy and organizational change theory in education, workforce development and economic development. |

Human Resources Intern, Hilton Minneapolis The Hilton Minneapolis is an 821 room convention hotel located in the heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is an unpaid internship and must be taken for college credit.This internship offers exposure to Employment, Recruiting, Training, Benefits and Employee Relations. The intern will have responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following:
* Assisting with the selection and hiring process by screening applicants, reviewing resumes, sending out EEO postcards, logging applicants in the computerized tracking system, attending job fairs and checking references.
* Assisting with the administrative duties of creating new hire files, termination files, job offer packets, ordering office supplies, making ID badges, answering phones, maintaining personnel and training files, distributing disciplinary action notices, greeting applicants and answering team member questions.
* Assisting with new hire orientation, team member relations activities and employee benefits.
* Assisting the Director of Human Resources, Employment Manager, Training Manager, Team Member Relations Manager and Assistant Director of Human Resources with various assignments and projects.
The qualified candidate will be a self-starter, detail oriented, and proficient in Word and Excel. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are a must. The capability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

The Editorial Assistant is responsible for tracking article submissions, communicating with authors and reviewers, and working with the editors to manage the flow of the manuscript submission, review, and publication process.
