Over the MEA break, high school juniors and seniors from all over Minnesota visit colleges to see where they may end up in the coming years.  The School of Business presented to students about all the benefits of selecting a business related major or minor.  Special thanks to Brent Grover (soph.) and Zander Lovstad (jr.) who offered their great presentation skills to help introduce HSB to prospective students.

Welcome Antonella Picchio

Professor Antonella Picchio from our partner institution, the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia, will be at Hamline as a visiting Alkire Scholar from October 24 to November 6. Professor Picchi will be giving a seminar to HSB faculty, staff and students on November 4, at 11:30 a.m. in East Hall 004. The title of Professor Antonella Picchio's talk is "The Chain of Responsibilities Toward the Quality of Living Conditions."  She will be using Jane McPeak's office while Jane is teaching in Modena. 

 

MBA students will have the opportunity to visit Antonella's university in Modena May 13-23, 2011 as part of an MBA international experience elective. 

Alumni Success

Congratulations to recent Master of Nonprofit Management graduate Vicki Kopplin who was recently named Executive Director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota.   

Kym Burdof '10 has accepted a department manager position with Nordstrom's.  She credits her Strategic Management course with Karen Somerville in helping her through her training and in the early parts of her new role. 

Beza Guadu '10 has accepted a role as a business analyst for Target Corporation and has returned to Hamline as an MBA student.

It's Early November - Watch for David Schultz

Kare 11 News' election coverage on Tuesday, November 2 will contain plenty of Professor David Schultz.  David will be on Kare 11 periodically from 4pm to 11pm discussing the political races as they unfold and sharing his election policy and history expertise.  Who will be our next governor and who will Minnesota send to Washington to represent us?  Get David's thoughts on Tuesday. Congratulations to Eric Johnson

DPA student and Oak Park Heights City Administrator Eric Johnson successfully defended his dissertation this past week.  The title of his research is "Evaluating the Impacts of Televising City Council Meetings on Accountability, Public Participation and Transparency in Minnesota Local Government - An Exploratory Study."  Congratulations to Eric on the completion of this goal!
