Hamline School of Business representatives will be in Duluth, MN for two conferences that are important to our students and faculty.  On October 7-8 we will be at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits Annual Conference.  The gathering brings together nonprofit leaders from across the state to learn and network.  Hamline instructors and students speaking at the event include Kate Barr, Michael Wirth-Davis, and MayKao Hang.  HSB is also a sponsor of this event.

When the MCN conference ends, the Minnesota Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) Annual Conference begins.  The School of Business will be at this Duluth conference talking with HR professionals about our programs that are leading to business innovation.

Be sure to look for us if you plan to attend either event!
Anita Larson Published
Anita Larson, DPA student and adjunct faculty member had her paper, "The Changing Information Environment and Civic Literacy" published in the Fall 2010 edition of The Public Manager.  Congratulations to Anita!
Looking to connect with a leader in your field?

This year the HSB will again offer students interested in public administration and nonprofit careers an opportunity to participate in the Public Service Mentor Program.  We have increased the number of mentors from last year.  You and your mentor would connect once a month between October and May.  We will launch the program the first part of October.

If you are interested please send an email to hsb@hamline.edu with your name, program, one or two sentences why you are interested in the program and your key area(s) of interest.  If you have question you can contact Jim Scheibel at jscheibel01@hamline.edu or 651-523-2345.
MBA Field Study Group Recognized and Thanked

As part of their capstone and completion of their program in Module 4, MBA students work with local businesses and organizations in a field study project.  Recently Bob Lewis, the field study director, received a note from a company impressed with our MBA students.  Here are some excerpts from the letter.

"I would like to thank you and the great team you selected who helped us so much in launching Smart Lid, LLC. They are William Blaszczak,Treyce Gladney, Kelly Gross, Denny Klause, Vidram Phadke and Juliane Wrede."

"The Field Study report helped our business by providing useful information and the interpretation thereof. As a company, then, we were much more focused and confident about our potential market and could communicate that clearly with our intended investors and customers"

"You didn't ask for this letter but Dan and I felt compelled to recognize the extraordinary efforts of yourself and your wonderful team."
