Fahima Aziz Invited to Present

Reid A. Zimmerman, Ph.D. Joins School of Business as Part-Time Practitioner-In-Residence for the Master of Nonprofit Management Degree Program The School of Business is pleased to introduce Reid A. Zimmerman, M. Div., Ph.D., CFRE, as its Practitioner in Residence for the Master's of Nonprofit Degree Program. He officially assumed his part-time teaching and advising duties effective September 1, 2010. Dr. Zimmerman is an organizational development, fundraising, evaluation and strategic planning consultant with over twenty-five years experience in the nonprofit sector. He has worked in a variety of capacities and served on several nonprofit boards including the board and executive committee of the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits (MCN). He is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Nonprofit Innovation at the Performance Institute in Arlington, VA. and is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) with the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Most recently, he served as the Interim Executive Director of the Minnesota Senior Federation. He is formerly the Vice President of Development with the Hazelden Foundation of Center City, MN. Reid has authored Grantwriting 101: It's Not a Mission Impossible!! (2001) and served as a member of the editorial committee for MCN's Principles and Practices of Nonprofit Excellence in 1994 and again in 2005 as well as numerous articles on nonprofit leadership, fundraising and evaluation. His book, The Seven Deadly Sayings of Nonprofit Leaders, is anticipated to be published by Charity Channel press in Spring 2011. Dr. Zimmerman holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Development, with an emphasis on Nonprofit Change and Effectiveness through The Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, Ohio. His prior education includes undergraduate degrees in Sociology/Psychology (B.A.) and Secondary Education (B.S.), a Master of Divinity degree and additional graduate course work in nonprofit administration and quality process improvement. |
Hamline Student Business Student Group
Back for academic year 2010 - 2011 is the Hamline Student Business Group (HSBG). This undergraduate group will meet on Tuesdays in Bush Library at 5:30. The leadership recently spoke at the HSB Welcome and Orientation Session on Thursday, September 23. Anybody interested in business can join. Simply go to the conference room at Bush Library on Tuesday and meet the group. Find them on facebook and their website will be updated soon for 10-11 |

Cathy Gustafson Working with The Delegation for Friendship Among Women.  Dr. Cathy Gustafson was elected to the Board of Directors in September 2010 for The Delegation For Friendship Among Women. This international women's group travels throughout the world, meeting women leaders, with the mission of transcending racial, religious, social and economic barriers to promote understanding and cooperation. The Delegation will travel to Syria in the fall of 2011 to develop friendships and collaborations. The mission of the organization is to form a network of committed women leaders globally |
Congratulations to Heather Worthington - Ramsey County Deputy County Manager MPA student Heather Worthington has accepted the position as Deputy County Manager for Ramsey County. Heather has a strong background in the public sector. Previously she was with the City of Edina and the City of Falcoln Heights where was involved in the redevelopment of the Southeast corner of Snelling and Larpenteur Avenues, and the consolidation of 911 Dispatch Services in Ramsey County and Saint Paul. Heather is very close the completing her MPA degree. Read the notice from the City of Edina as they say goodbye to a "first-rate manager." |
David Schultz to Speak on Presidential Powers

We have increased the number of mentors from last year. You and your mentor would connect once a month between October and May. We will launch the program the first part of October.

Professional Development Opportunities Fall 2010 Hamline School of Business
The fall series of professional development seminars at the Minneapolis location continues with two upcoming session. Each session is designed to address challenges facing organizations in today's new economy. Next in the series (Sept 29) is Project Management for Executives: Become the Catalyst for Project Success. This second seminar provides upper level management and executives the information they need to provide visionary leadership for their project teams. Attendees will understand how best practices fuel consistency in delivering quality products and solutions on time, within budget and ahead of the competition. Then (Oct. 14) we will host Donor Engagement: Leveraging Resources to Get, Keep and Grow Prospects. This seminar focuses on how organizations can prepare better for prospect development during the 'New Normal' of reduced budgets. The main point of this seminar is to enable participants to create consistent and repeatable operations to organize their strategy around the voice of the donor.
