David Schultz Covers the Primary

HSB Professor David Schultz was seen on Kare 11 TV and Fox 9 and in print quoted in the Pioneer Press discussing the Minnesota primary on August 10.  Expect to see Professor Schultz this fall as the Minnesota Governor's race heats-up.  In the meantime, follow his thoughts on his blog at http://schultzstake.blogspot.com/
Hamline Well Represented at the Policy Analysis Conference

The 26th Annual Policy Analysis Conference is October 13, 2010.  Hamline is one of the conference sponsors again this year and will again provide speakers and panelists. Anita Larson is a panelist on a session entitled "Focus on High School Graduation: A New Model for Directing County Services Priorities". Her contribution will be to discuss work she has completed on educational outcomes.  Kris Norman-Major is a panelist on a session entitled "Social Return on Investment: A Tool for Policy and Program Evaluation."  More information can be found on the conference website and conference flyer (PDF).
Lean Six Sigma Training

Acceleren Consulting will offer another series of Green Belt and Black Belt classes at the Hamline Minneapolis location, beginning in mid-September.  Hamline students receive a significant discount for these courses which are taught by MBA instructor Rick Hardcopf.   Click here for more information and e-mail Rick if you have questions. 
Interested in Social Media and Networking?
 
HSB is still looking for a few student volunteers to assist with the registration desk at a September 1st workshop on Social Media offered by Allied Executives. In return for staffing the registration desk, our students will be able to attend the workshop and networking session for free. Participating students will also be given the option of attending a networking training session before the event. The Social Media Workshop will take place on September 1, 2010 from 12:00-6:00 at the Prom Center, 484 Inwood Ave, Oakdale, MN 55128. Jack Reardon Presents in France
 Jack
Jet-setting HSB Economics professor, Jack Reardon, presented a paper, "Suggestions for a New Principles of Economics Text from an Ecological Perspective" at the 11th Conference of the Association for Heterodox Economics, held in Bordeaux, France. Reardon also chaired a session on academic journals in economics education.  Jack's experience this summer will be shared with HSB students in MBA Module 2 and with undergraduate students in his first-year seminar on the Financial Global Crisis
Two More Finance MBA Electives
 
Due to popular demand, new sections of Finance Theory and Applications and Financial Institutions and Markets were added to the fall 2010 MBA elective options.  The courses will be offered on the Saint Paul campus. Students can register for the courses on Piperline!
Association of Public Management Professionals of MN Conference

MPA students are invited to attend the Association of Public Management Professionals of MN Conference on August 19 at the New Brighton Family Service Center.  This event will be an excellent networking opportunity for students. Public administration professionals from across the metro area will attend. There will be individual mentoring sessions at the conference in which attendees will have the opportunity to sit down and talk with City Managers and ask them questions about their career paths thus far. Dave Horsager is the featured speaker.  More information is available on the flyer.  Students can RSVP beyond the deadline on the flyer.
