Sigma Beta Delta, the Hamline School of Business undergraduate honor society for students in Business, Management and Administration, welcomed seven students into the organization on March 17. Pictured below is Dean Schuster shaking hands with four of the new members. The new inductees are Seniors - Peter Andrews, Eric Bender, Andrew Boho, Kelsey Potts, Mike Schuster, and Stephanie Zimmerman and Junior - Jessica Hennesy. Undergraduate Study Opportunities in Cologne, Germany for 2010-2011 Academic Year
The Office of Off Campus Programs at Hamline is pleased to announce the 2010-2011 travel opportunities to Cologne, Germany. The Hamline School of Business and Cologne Business School have a partnership that allows faculty from both schools to teach students. Hamline students in Cologne have the opportunity to study the German language and culture and learn about business in the European Union. Craig Waldron Presents Craig Waldron spoke at the annual Finance Officers/Clerks conference on the topic of talent development strategies for emerging leaders. He also addressed the Association of Public Managers Professionals on how to deal with "alligators in the public sector'. Craig and City of Oakdale were also featured in a March 15 Star Tribune article relating to internships and the development of the next generation.

Leadership, Vocation, and Values GPA 8498
Are you looking for a summer elective that will allow you to reflect on the values of a leader? Leadership, Vocation, and Values will offer participants the opportunity to examine their life's calling and their deepest values in relation to work and life balance. Professor Jim Bonilla has been  published in the latest issue of the International Journal of Knowledge, Culture and Change Management, Volume 9, Issue 12, pp.127-138. His article, "Making Green Organizations Multicultural: Debunking the Myths About People of Color" seeks to understand the absence of significant numbers of people of color from the ranks of traditional outdoor and environmental organizations. He then presents information to counter these myths, and concludes with four recommendations for diversifying not only traditional environmental and outdoor organizations, but the broader green movement as well. |
LGBT Career Management Issues Workshop How do we advocate for workplaces to be more just and inclusive for LGBT persons? How does one balance the need to live authentically with fears of workplace discrimination or loss of income and livelihood? The social networking intern will work with social networking media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flicker and YouTube to bring greater awareness of Great River Greening to people using these media. Past projects have included establishing Great River Greening on Twitter, engaging youth participating in the Million Acorn Challenge through Facebook, and developing a professional network via LinkedIn. Board Member, One Voice Mixed Chorus
One Voice Mixed Chorus is Minnesota's GLBTA Chorus, and is growing its Board of Directors. One Voice is known for its musical excellence, diverse repertoire, humor, and strong commitment to community outreach. One Voice's eighty singing members span ages 16-70, and its Fifth Section boasts over 40 non-singing volunteers. Together, they dedicate their time and energy to the One Voice mission: "Building community and creating social change by raising our voices in song." One Voice is the largest GLBTA mixed chorus in North America, and has performed for thousands of people in the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota, and beyond. One Voice relies on the generous time and efforts of many volunteers, including our Board of Directors. Board Members are dedicated to social justice issues and the mission of the chorus. They help the organization across many different functional areas, or as "At Large" generalists. Board members attend monthly board meetings, and take on additional responsibilities depending upon their focus.
