Hamline University on the President's Higher Education University Honor Roll
Hamline University is on the 2009 President's Higher Education University Honor Roll. The award, launched in 2006, annually recognizes institutions of higher education for their commitment to and achievement in community service. Last week the award was presented to Hamline University and Executive in Residence, Jim Scheibel spoke at the presentation. Hamline University has a long tradition of serving the Hamline-Midway neighborhood and Hancock Elementary School. However, recently the School of Business has been active in serving the community through the MBA field study. The field study pairs MBA students in their final term with organizations to help with organizational growth. The field study group has worked with Jeremiah Program, Goodwill/Easter Seals, Fraser Institute, Fraser Academy, StoreFront, and other nonprofits. Click here for more information about the President's Higher Education University Honor Roll. |
The School of Business provided volunteer assistance to the 2010 Allied Executives Business & Economic Outlook conference. Dozens of students helped with registration and handled logistics and the event. The group is shown below after a hard day of work.

Board Member, One Voice Mixed Chorus
One Voice Mixed Chorus is Minnesota's GLBTA Chorus, and is growing its Board of Directors. One Voice is known for its musical excellence, diverse repertoire, humor, and strong commitment to community outreach. One Voice's eighty singing members span ages 16-70, and its Fifth Section boasts over 40 non-singing volunteers. Together, they dedicate their time and energy to the One Voice mission: "Building community and creating social change by raising our voices in song." One Voice is the largest GLBTA mixed chorus in North America, and has performed for thousands of people in the Twin Cities, greater Minnesota, and beyond. One Voice relies on the generous time and efforts of many volunteers, including our Board of Directors. Board Members are dedicated to social justice issues and the mission of the chorus. They help the organization across many different functional areas, or as "At Large" generalists. Board members attend monthly board meetings, and take on additional responsibilities depending upon their focus. Examples range from Strategic Planning, to Fundraising, to recruiting new leaders to our organization. Reach them at stepup@ovmc.org. Or, visit us online at http://www.ovmc.org.
