Cathy Gustafson Returns from Senegal
Cathy Gustafson, Director of the Master's in Nonprofit Management Program, School of Business had the rare privilege to visit one of Hamline University's partners, the Universite Gaston Berger De Saint-Louis in Saint- Louis, Senegal, Africa. Gustafson met with University officials there to discuss mutual interests in the area of NGO's and training of global nonprofit leadership. She was also privileged to meet with some NGO leaders in the city of Saint-Louis and Dakur while on her visit. She is photographed below dining with leadership of a large nonprofit in Saint-Louis, RADI, led by Madame Ndeyea-anta Kane. The group committed to resolving difficult problems in the community including training illiterate woman to read and write, working on gender equity issues, fighting against domestic disputes, working on microfinance, house shelters and rehabilitation of citizens after detention in prison. The mission of RADI is to fight ignorance, violence, poverty and provide advice to citizens. It was a fascinating trip and depending upon the future, the MNM program can benefit from such educational travel exploration with NGO's in Senegal, Africa.
