The School of Business will once again offer an international experience to Modena, Italy this spring.  Students will study International Human Resource Management while touring local businesses and meeting with local civic and business leaders.

Julian Schuster Presents on AAASSSwan
 
Hamline School of Business dean and professor Julian Schuster presented at the 41st National Convention of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies (AAASS) in Boston. He was a discussant for a session sponsored by the North American Society for Serbian Studies titled "Serbia Beyond 2009: Strategic Culture and Foreign Policy Choices." He also delivered a paper in a session on "Serbia in Transition: 2000 - 2010."



A Cologne Report

A group of MBA students traveled to Cologne, Germany in October to study Global Risk Management with Nikolay Megits and Beth Gunderson.  Read Nikolay's report of the trip and view photos of the experience here

Hamline Undergraduate Student Business Group

Hamline has an active undergraduate student business group with a mission to "increase student awareness of and involvement in business-related resources, issues, and activities."  Check out their fall 2009 newsletter or find them at hamlinesbg.com.   
Bill Joynes Speaks to Local Governments
 Bill Joynes

On November 16, Bill Joynes 
spoke to the City of Woodbury Engineering and Public Works staff on "Perspectives on serving the Public" for their year long strategic planning process.  Also on November 16, he  facilitated a Coon Rapids City Council Workshop and Community meeting designed to take input and determine a direction for the implementation of a new 38 million dollar Community Center that has been in development for three years. Later that week, he was the concluding presenter for the City of Mankato's staff Leadership Program. He talked to the group about "Changing Parameters of Public Service and the Qualities Needed in Today's Leaders."

Spring Registration 

Winter and Spring registration opened on Monday.  We appreciate students registering early!

The School of Business is offering three Winter courses.  These accelerated courses will meet over January and include Public Negotiation Skills Building, Certificate in HR Management, and Certificate in Public Affairs Management.
 
End of Program Forms
 
Graduate students who are coming to the end of their time at Hamline should keep two forms in mind when registering for Capstone or declaring an intent to graduate.  The Capstone Form is completed in order to register for Capstone course. 
The Statement of Intent to Graduate Form is for all students who expect to graduate in academic year 2009-2010.

"Explore the Core"
ACUI is a nonprofit educational organization that brings together college union and student activities professionals from hundreds of schools in seven countries.  Student membership in the organization is free and registration for conferences and events is greatly reduced for students.   The 2010 annual conference will bring together student leaders at the graduate level from all over the country to discuss student leadership, mentorship, and student organizations.  More information can be found at http://www.acui.org/programs/conference/2010/

The Oracle is seeking an Ad Manager for '09-'10. The Ad Manager is
responsible for selling ads (both print and online), generating
in-house ad material and marketing the paper in general. Some ads are
received via a contracted aggregator, but legwork is required to solicit additional ads.
The job is perfect for business students looking to get some real-world
experience in both marketing and sales. The position is also paid via a
commission from ads sold and has the potential to be very lucrative. Ideal candidates are driven, organized, prompt and personable.

Scholarship Opportunity
The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance & Accounting (ALPFA)
