Schuster Speaks at Oxford Round Table
Julian Schuster presented at the 2009 Oxford Round Table at Harris Manchester College at the University of Oxford. The title of the conference was "Social Justice: Human Rights, Poverty, and Financial Resources." Dean Schuster presented on "The Economic Crisis or Crisis of Economics: The End of Ideology." The Oxford Round Table is an international educational organization whose purpose is to promote education, art, science, religion and charity. The conference brought together international experts and leaders on a variety of academic disciplines.

25th Annual Conference on Policy Analysis
Once again the HSB will be a sponsor of the Policy Analysis Conference. In its 25th year, the conference will examine how Minnesota is using the current recession to develop innovative public policies. The conference will be Wednesday, October 14 at the University of Minnesota's Continuing Education and Conference Center in St. Paul. Professor Kris Norman-Major Chair of the Public Administration Department, is on the planning committee. HSB Dean Julian Schuster will participate on a panel of experts discussing the economic stimulus package and its effects on Minnesota economy and government. Not Registered for Fall?
If you have not registered for Fall 2009, please take the time to select your courses on Piperline. On-line access to registration will end on August 31. Students in cohorts should register to hold their spot in the cohort and to ensure that they are receiving early course communication from faculty. |
Public Administration Certificates Announced
Earlier this week, the Department of Public Administration announced four new certificate programs. These programs touch on topics that are immediately relevant to leaders of public institutions. The new certificate programs join The Public Works Leadership Academy as great ways for students to focus on a specific sub-sector of public administration. The certificates in Corrections Administration and Public Safety Administration will start in Fall 2009. The certificates in Economic Development and Labor Relations will begin in January 2010.
