Modena, Italy Revisited

In April Professors Rob Routhieaux and Jane Calabria McPeak accompanied a group of HSB students to Modena, Italy for an MBA course in International HR Management with a focus on Italy and the European Union.  The course, taught by Professor Routhieaux and several colleagues from the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia School of Economics and Business, was an intensive one-week experience.  While in Modena, the students visited several businesses and were able to meet and have discussions with their human resource directors.  Pictured below is Modena Mayor Giorgio Pighi, who some years ago participated in a faculty exchange with Hamline School of Law, with Professor Routhieaux and some of the MBA students who participated on the trip.  Click on the image for more pictures from the trip.

Watch the newsletter for more information about next spring's course in Modena.

Fall MPA/DPA Course Night Change

GPA 8498/8998 Topics: Local Government Planning has been moved to Monday nights. This new elective course provides an opportunity for students to learn from one of the top local government planners in the field. Heidi Welsch, Planning Director for Dakota County, will lead the class in a dynamic examination of how local governments use planning, analysis and evaluation to set strategic directions. These tools are especially in demand in times of tight budgets and the need to prioritize and evaluate spending. Students interested in this topic are urged to register for the course this fall as it may be over a year before it is offered again. Don't miss this opportunity to learn skills in high demand and explore the challenges and possibilities of good planning and evaluation work at a local level.

MBA Module 3 Orientation

MBA Module 3 students and faculty had the opportunity to get out of the classroom and into a more social setting for Module 3 orientation.  This is quickly becoming a Module 3 tradition in the Hamline MBA as students enjoy the opportunity to network and enjoy fellowship with classmates.

HSB Going Online

For several years the Hamline School of Business has used Blackboard to augment and support material that is taught in the classroom.  In Fall 2009, HSB will offer GPA 8061 Administrative Law with Jane McPeak as a "hybrid" course.  Half the course will be completed solely on Blackboard with reading, discussions, and assignments being virtual.  The other half will consist of traditional class meetings on the Hamline campus.  The course is available for registration on Piperline.
HSB Summer Office Hours

Effective June 8, the School of Business office at Hamline Park Plaza will be open 8:30 to 5:30 Monday through Thursday and 8:30 to 5:00 on Friday through the summer months.  It is good practice to always make an appointment with faculty and administration.
