Field Trip and Guest Speaker At the Hamline School of Business, we all know that learning takes place in the classroom, but it also occurs through practical experiences. Learning is accomplished with the help of internships, study abroad, field studies, and research. Learning at HSB also occurs on a slow moving bus just blocks from campus. Professor Jim Hagen took his Foundations of Marketing course to the BNSF Saint Paul intermodal facility located north of campus on Pierce Butler. Students learned how items from all over the world end up in our Midway Target and Walmart. BNSF is the largest class 1 railroad in the US and employs over 40,000 people.
Earlier in the term, Matt McCormack of the Minnesota Swarm LaCrosse team came to speak to this class about how to market a professional sports franschise. Students learned about developing a brand and marketing to both corporations and individuals in order to increase awareness of LaCrosse in Minnesota. |
