Ciao tutti!
What a beautiful Fall season in Tuscany. We've just concluded our Fall tours and were blessed with great weather and wonderful new friends that joined us for tours and cooking classes. We sure had a fun time with all of you and enjoyed showing you authentic Tuscany!
Gina is heading back to the U.S. shortly and will begin sharing the 'Tuscan love' at cooking classes, wine dinners and wine & food pairings here. We're still firming up dates and cities and will keep the website and FaceBook updated. Hope to see you all this winter!
Included here this month - some beautiful pictures of the new oil and autumn colors. The colors were spectacular this year!
A presto,
Gina and Mary

The New Olive Oil -
Tuscany is in the midst of harvesting the olives and the frantoio (olive press) is running 24/7 now. Everywhere you turn you see the workers in the groves collecting this year's bounty. Because we've had little rain this fall in the area and warmer temperatures the olives have ripened sooner then normal. Many presses were opened beginning in the middle of October which was unusual for the area - tradition dictates November 1st!

Olive Picking in Chianti
|
We visited a frantoio during our last 2 tours this year. Our favorite activity when visiting a frantoio during the olive harvest is to taste the newly pressed oil.
|
New Olive Oil- note the electric green!
|
We made bruschetta (grilled the bread on a wood fire) - the perfect vehicle in which to taste this new oil, grilled sausages and toasted the new oil with local Chianti! It was a fun evening to partake in the excitement of the freshly pressed oil!
