State Funding Cuts Impact the Library |
|
Due to state funding cuts to public libraries, the Chatham Public Library is paying over $5,137 a year for book delivery and automation fees with another 76% increase coming in 2012 for those same services.
Local libraries are having to now provide the funds that our library system used to receive from the State of New York to keep our wonderful interlibrary loan system up and working as well as it does!
The Mid-Hudson Library System has been cut three times in the last two years, and state funding is now below levels seen in 1998!
Please help us by ordering books, CD Audio books and DVD's that you really want, and by remembering to pick them up!
Tuesday, March 1st is Library Advocacy Day in Albany. Please feel free to call our state legislator, Senator Stephen Saland at either 518-455-2411 or 845-463-0840, to advocate for our libraries and speak up about the cuts. |
