RIVER OF DREAMS: THE STORY OF THE HUDSON RIVER
Thursday, July 30th at 3:00pm
Hudson Talbott celebrates the magnificent Hudson River and all the dreamers who have been affected by its power and beauty through the ages with his new book River of Dreams: The Story of the Hudson River.
In beautiful illustrational style, this book pays homage to the role that the Hudson River played in the Age of Exploration, the Erie Canal, the Industrial Age, American arts and literature and the environment. (FAMILY EVENT). |

Receive a reading log to keep track of the titles and amount of time you spend reading (or the amount of time that you read to your child).
Visit the library each week to show us your progress!
BE CREATIVE AT YOUR LIBRARY - Participate in theatre, art, music, science and nature programs! Come to our party, receive reading incentives!

First Meeting, Wednesday, July 8, 2:00-4:00pm
Divide up into small groups. Pick which -Be Creative at Your Library- programs you would like to document. Learn the features of the Flip Mono video camera. Introduction to video-editing with Windows Moviemaker.
Videotaping, Thursday, July 9 - Tuesday, August 3
In groups choose which event(s) to videotape. Videotape your event, in groups and taking turns with the camera. Lots to choose from: Theatre Workshop, Book Making Program, Drum Circle, The Hudson River Quilt Project, Collage workshops, author visit, AND, perhaps a book trailer for a book you all like?

to Friday, August 7
Final Editing Session (Putting it all Together) and publish to YouTube, Friday August 7

| Books Alive! - THE LIBRARIAN OF BASRA |

Monday, July 13 to Friday, July 17
from 2:00pm to 4:00pm
Final Performance, Friday, July 17 at 3:00pm
Along with Margot Mullein Feron of the "Soup to Nuts" Theatre Group, kids will stage of production of their dramatization of "The Librarian of Basra: A True Story of Iraq." Kids will adapt narrative and script, design sets, props and costumes.
The workshop is open and free to 15 children from the ages of 6-15, and will culminate in a dress rehearsal and performance.
