On A Personal Note:
Each year we celebrate monthly events for a variety of reasons, some with fun, some with gratitude, and some because of age. Now, I am not saying that those celebrations associated with age are not fun, or without gratitude, but simply because they roll about each year whether we want them or not!
Well, October brings around a celebration of each of these emotions...Halloween for fun, cooler weather after a long hot summer for gratitude and birthdays for the ages we go through. As for this writer, I have four of those in this October time...mine and three of the neatest inlaws anyone ever had! One son-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law...now understand, I have, in my mind, done away with the "-in-law" part relating to these wonderful folks long, long, ago. Yep, that is why we can squabble like ducks and geese, and I still love them after all is said and done.
Now, I must admit sometimes I'd rather celebrate their turning of another age than reflect on my own movement through time, but you know...age is indeed relative, and if it is a relative that is aging all the better! :o) No, seriously, age is relative and only the person that is moving through time can appreciate where they are and where they are going, you see. Folks do try to put themselves in your shoes and give you advice on where you need to be, but, you see, they are really standing in their own shoes relecting their image upon you. Now, you may need that reflection to better determine what is best for yourself, however, sometimes, if you are not careful, the reflected glare just might blind you to your potential, no matter what your abilities are...now THAT would be a real loss, both to yourself and to others...don't you think?
Yep, I have found lately it is good to wear reflective sunshades at times! :o) There is a time in life that will have folks say, "At your age you need to slow down, relax, sit down and rock awhile!" Well, if you feel like rocking your life away, then that is really good advice...but, if you feel like rockin'...well, you just have to rock to your own tune 'til the music stops...then smile and lean back and relax at your own pace.
Well, now you have been subjected to my views on young and old...let me hear yours if you like...I know I would!!!
Peace,
The Coffeeman
