Mugs to you!

Well here we are sitting on the tenth month of the year already...can you believe it?  Yep, and the stores are already putting up the Christmas stuff!  Well, we have not got that far yet...nope just trying to enjoy the cooler air and the beautiful blue skies...that is when it is not raining!

This morning I opened up a bunch of boxes to take a look at the latest shipment of mugs from Sunset Hills Stoneware.  They are really nice!!! We will have them with us at the shows and eventually online..though I really think these beauties will not make it back home from the shows.

You know, I get a bit excited about anything dealing with our coffee business, but mugs hold a special spot in my heart.  I can still remember the two mugs I took off with me when I went to West Georgia College (now known as The University of West Georgia).  You see I needed those mugs because in those days I was not too good at studying and I had to stay awake longer to get what some folks took in rather quickly.  Also, I needed two because I soon learned that in those days they did not make mugs that could withstand the heat of a one eye hotplate!  Yep, I decided that would be the way to keep the liquid hot while I was distracted by my textbooks...well, that was until I realized my study table was wet and the hotplate was steaming something horrible! :o)  Live and learn...then it was on to other things...like military then grad school at UGA.  Each of those life events seem to require at least a moment, a pause, to lift a mug.  Now, that did not always mean the mug had coffee splashing around in it but mostly it did...

Well, back to the mugs.  Sunset Hills Stoneware is a special manufacturer, you see.  They took our order for specific designs and then turned (I believe that is the term) each mug on a potter's wheel, making each mug a work of art in its own right. Somehow, in the process, they add our logo and the work is complete.  Each mug has some characteristic that is unique to itself, making it easy for its owner to identify and enjoy their special mug.  You would think that we would ask an arm and at least half a leg for each of these, however, we really want to share these with folks that appreciate such things...so we only ask a small amount above what we pay.

Are we nuts???  Maybe, but some folks tell us that we are crazy as foxes...don't know why they would say that...maybe it has something to do with that logo looking them in the face each morning saying, "This is sure good coffee...you are getting kinda' low...don't you think you need to order before it is too late...you know you cannot pour bad coffee into me don't you?"  Now, I will have to take the fifth if you ask me if the mug is right or not...but, you may want to get your mug real fast so it can start helping you keep up with your supply!  :o)

Well, next month I might get back to sharing info on coffee itself, but you know you have to have something to hold the good, life enriching liquid that comes out of those good ol' coffee beans roasted by The Alpaca Bean Roasting Company! :o)  Take care until next time...

On A Personal Note:

Each year we celebrate monthly events for a variety of reasons, some with fun, some with gratitude, and some because of age. Now, I am not saying that those celebrations associated with age are not fun, or without gratitude, but simply because they roll about each year whether we want them or not!

Well, October brings around a celebration of each of these emotions...Halloween for fun, cooler weather after a long hot summer for gratitude and birthdays for the ages we go through.  As for this writer, I have four of those in this October time...mine and three of the neatest inlaws anyone ever had!  One son-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one brother-in-law...now understand, I have, in my mind, done away with the "-in-law" part relating to these wonderful folks long, long, ago.  Yep, that is why we can squabble like ducks and geese, and I still love them after all is said and done.

Now, I must admit sometimes I'd rather celebrate their turning of another age than reflect on my own movement through time, but you know...age is indeed relative, and if it is a relative that is aging all the better!  :o)  No, seriously, age is relative and only the person that is moving through time can appreciate where they are and where they are going, you see.  Folks do try to put themselves in your shoes and give you advice on where you need to be, but, you see, they are really standing in their own shoes relecting their image upon you.  Now, you may need that reflection to better determine what is best for yourself, however, sometimes, if you are not careful, the reflected glare just might blind you to your potential, no matter what your abilities are...now THAT would be a real loss, both to yourself and to others...don't you think?

Yep, I have found lately it is good to wear reflective sunshades at times!  :o)  There is a time in life that will have folks say, "At your age you need to slow down, relax, sit down and rock awhile!"  Well, if you feel like rocking your life away, then that is really good advice...but, if you feel like rockin'...well, you just have to rock to your own tune 'til the music stops...then smile and lean back and relax at your own pace.

Well, now you have been subjected to my views on young and old...let me hear yours if you like...I know I would!!!

Peace,
