You wanted to know about:

Coffee plant

The coffee tree averages from 5-10 m (15-30 ft.) in height. As the tree gets older, it branches less and less and bears more leaves and fruit. The tree typically begins to bear fruit 3-4 years after being planted, and continues to produce for 10-20 more years, depending on the type of plant and the area.

Yep, that is the skinny on the coffee plant...and NO, we do not grow coffee plants here on the farm! :o)  If we did we would probably harvest some of the worse coffee beans around...AND, no we do not feed the green beans we import from Bolivian and Peru to the Alpacas...I know I have said that two other times here, but folks keep asking us this!!!!  Now, if we followed a recent suggestion from a fella' that was here on the farm looking at our alpacas, we would "say" we did this type of exercise to encourage folks to get excited about the coffee more...well, to tell you the truth, folks have been and are still getting excited about the coffee simply by drinking a mug full!  Not only that, we cannot see why anyone would get excited about drinking coffee after it was "harvested" from the poop pile...I reckon' folks are a bit tetched if that is what spins their beany...don't you think?

The important thing for those of you that have not been to an alpaca show...well, you just need to pack up the kids, grandkids, or just yourselves and enjoy these beautiful creatures and the great folks that take care of them!  Yep... and you need to make sure you brew up a good thermos of The Alpaca Bean Coffee to take along so you will be bright eyed and bushy tailed all the time you spend at these events!  While you are there, even if we are not, tell all the folks you see that you have access to the best of all coffees from the lands of the alpacas, Peru and Bolivia...and if they treat you right, you will tell them how they can get some too!!  :o)

On A Personal Note:.

Sure did read a good article in the lastest, Daily Guideposts, just yesterday...it was titled, "10 Words That Changed Our Lives."  It was by John Sherrill, roving editor for the magazine.  You see, he tells how he lived during the Great Depression and now The Great Recession...how folks in both times were beset by fear and the resulting stalemate it had on their ablility to live life to the fullest.  He talks about how there were similarities between these times and how ten simple words spoken by Franklin Roosevelt during his inaugural address made our country turn the page, so to speak.  You see, they did not have cable, nor satelite TV back then, they instead crowded around their ol' Atwater Kent Radio to hear the message.

President Roosevelt was speaking after he had won victory and at a time when the people of our country were down and out.  Many families had lost their homes, their jobs, their retirement savings...their will to live life fully.  President Roosevelt was taking office following one of the worse times partially brought about by a pretty well known businessman and his advisors...President Hoover.  Folks did not know what to think, but when they heard President Roosevelt say, "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself," well, it struck a cord in the minds and spirits of the citizens of our country...and they went back to work making our country strong...again.  This did not happen without the federal government being involved, but it did happen because the federal government and the private enterprize sectors of our country joined hands, and brought about a unified effort to build our manufactoring core into one that the world envied and one that many other countries are trying to copy today.

I would like to say that all this came about because one of President Roosevelt's speech writers was sitting around his breakfast table drinking a mug of The Alpaca Bean Coffee, but we were not around back then...probably had a cup of Maxwell House brew in one hand and a pen in the other.  But you know he did good, and his words were right on target for the times in which they were presented by a President that was determined to make a difference.

We need to revisit those words, we need to ask that folks gather around their kitchen tables, or on their decks, or in their garages, or out on the lawn, or simply in the living rooms of their homes.  Talk about the realities of the world we live in, but also understand that we do not need to try to generate fear among ourselves or our neighbors (and we have a bunch of neighbors on the internet these days).  We need to support one another...and our country.

Tell you what...if you feel the urge to have a bunch of folks over to discuss how we can overcome the fear, and the fear mongers, of today...well, you drop me an email and we will send you some of our mind enhancing coffee to serve while you are about it. :o)

Know a fun thing to do...have someone with good computer skills at the ready to check out the fear tactics of either of our political parties on factcheck.com or any other such site.

Well, that is the political email for the four year period ... by the time the next Presidential election rolls around the Coffeeman's fingers will be stiffer yet, and probably will be in retirement!  I heard that applause!! :o)

Peace,

The Coffeeman
