On A Personal Note:
...........Promise me that you will not make it too weak..............
That is the plea that I make at each and every show to many many new customers. You see The Alpaca Bean Coffee, as most all coffees, tastes best when you can truly taste the differing characteristics of the bean. If you make it too weak, all you get is a really lame version of the best...now it may still be the best you have ever tasted, but believe me, it will not be the best of the best.
So how do you know when you have made it to the right strength level...well, all I can say is, "You will know, you will know..."
Now I reckon you could receive the same instruction for a number of life's events and challenges...
What would happen if you looked at cost savings when building a fence to protect a favorite creature...like the alpaca...say you put only one fence post for every 20 feet or so, instead of every 7 or 8 feet? Bet you would not have the most secure fence there...you would have a fence...sort of...but you really have a lame version of the best.
How about if you got put in charge of setting up an engine for a race car? Say you decided to only put wiring to 6 of the 8 cylinders and only put brakes on three of the four wheels...hey, while you were at it you decided to dilute the fuel your race team uses for the race...then you went out and hired the hottest race car driver you could find. On race day do ya think you would win???? Don't really think so...sounds like a lame version of the best to me!
Now these are foolish what ifs...I am really talking about coffee here, right? I really want you to not settle for a taste that is a figment of your imagination...a product of brain washing by advertisement...kind of like some of the political ads you will be seeing this year! :o) Let's look at the possible hints for making a good mug of coffee...
First, you will need a very good coffee maker...one with an excellent heating element, one that you can trust to make the brew you are seeking. Second, you will need a good coffee (this is your choice because it is your best friend in this endeavor). Now...you will begin developing your technique...a method you will come to rely on in the early morning hours when it is soooo important to sip on a good mug of coffee to get your day started in just the right way.
How do you develop your technique??? Good question! A good technique is simply one that allows you to be consistent in your successful venture of coffee making excellence. You can begin, as my Jude does, by placing a level, sort of level scoop of coffee in the brewer for each cup measured up until you come to the last two...then you stop!! This will - more than likely - give you the desired consistent taste experience you seek. OR you can take my approach and put one heaping, heaping scoopful for every two measured cups...this can be a wonderful but risky way to begin. Better yet, if you have a brewer that brews 12 cups of joe at a whack and you always fill the brewer to the max...well, you can take a cup measure and fill it level with coffee and start it up! This will be a good pot...if the coffee used is good as well...and the pot can produce the right heat level! Variables...you know!
So, this month you are getting two coffee pieces for the price of one...and maybe two personal notes for the same price...whatever...enjoy your mug of coffee, use The Alpaca Bean roasts if possible, and once you have your personal technique down...hey, give me a call or drop me a line. Let me know that you have reached that proud moment and believe me, I will be proud for you!
Until then...
Peace,
The Coffeeman
