This year I lit a candle in memory of my Mom during All Saints Sunday Services.  That was a few weeks ago, but while I sat in the church service, I could not get my Mom's love for Christmas out of my mind, nor her love for her children and grands.  Matter-of-fact, as I sat there I could see her smiling face as clear as anyone's in attendance that day.  You see, she was Santa Claus, Mrs. Santa, and Rudolf all rolled into one person while we were growing up...

 

     Mom passed from us a few years ago, but she left that Christmas spirit behind for us to enjoy...maybe that is why I still listen for the sound of the bells on Santa's sleigh each Christmas eve.  No, I do not expect to get a glimpse of the ol' jolly gentleman, but I hope I can pass a special anticipation along to others, an anticipation of good things to be, and good times to be had!  

 

     Mom also passed something else along to me - her longing for family and the closeness of loved ones.  AND the precious commodity called time.   Yes, I remember Mama and for those of you that still have your Moms, give her a hug for me this Christmas...no, better yet - take her a Christmas "panty hose" stocking filled with goodies - bet you will see a huge smile cross her face...and maybe a tear of two as well.
