Greetings,
Windjammer Days might be over for another year, but there are still lots of things to see in do here in the Boothbay Harbor Region. Escape the summer heat by taking a trip on one of the many excursion vessels that call Boothbay Harbor home. Take a sight-seeing tour, go sailing aboard a historic Windjammer, or voyage out to see seals, puffins, whales, and other assorted sea life. Enjoy the tranquility of the many nature preserves on our peninsula or visit one of our local pebbled beaches for a walk along the shore. In addition to everything that Mother Nature has to offer, our local merchants have stocked their pantries and shelves and are ready to tempt you with summer time treats and merchandise.
If you are going to be joining us in the next couple of weeks, we have two premier events that are sure to be fun and exciting. Boothbay in Bloom will take place on Wednesday, July 11th from 5:00-7:00 at the Spruce Point Inn and Spa. Boothbay in Bloom is a fashion show where local models will showcase the wares of some of our merchants. The Boothbay Craft Brewery will be welcoming 30 Maine Craft Brewers to our region on July 14th for a sampling of some of Maine's best microbrews.
We hope that a visit to the Boothbay Harbor Region will be a part of your summer plans. No matter when you visit, we will look forward to welcoming you!
Warm wishes,
Catherine Wygant

Event Description Imagine the sound of a Brazilian Carnaval in the Appalachian Mountains, a sound where dynamic percussion instruments rumble beneath blues drenched vocals, telecaster twangs, accordion acrobatics, and folksy fiddle tunes. Matuto ("bumpkin" in Brazilian slang) moves with two-stepping grace between bluegrass and forró, between swamp rock and maracatu, between surf guitar shimmies and the wah-wah of the berimbau. Lively, unorthodox, and delightful. This New York City group is surprising audiences around the world. Lead man Clay Ross last appeared at the Opera House with fiddler April Verch. Tonight we welcome him back with his amazing band. For additional information on Matuto or to listen to music clips visit matuto.com. Advance tickets $15, day of show $20. This joyous rocking exciting and dynamic service has been vital part of the Lincoln Arts summer for 18 years. It was the brain-child of Ned Freemen who directed this service for most of this time. Today Barney Balch leads the group with extraordinary skill, happily continuing this proud tradition. A word to the wise: the service plays to a full house, and in fact it is standing room only, so give yourself a little extra time!

Allie Withee, age 15 and Cate Withee, age 12 of Southport were the lucky winners of the 50/50 and completed the treasure quest by following clues to five green balls and retrieving coins in their 12 ft. The Boating Treasure Hunt was sponsored by Wyman and Simpson Inc. and the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce. Two courses were set up, one for non-motorize vessels and one for motorized. Participants followed clues and retrieved coins from green balls or buoys depending on the course and were entered into a 50/50 raffle.
