Convention of Maine Counties returns to Boothbay Harbor

Lincoln County is very pleased to announce that they are hosting the 2012 Convention of Maine Counties in Boothbay Harbor on September 5, 6 and 7 at Spruce Point Inn.  This event is held annually and sponsored by a host county; Penobscot in 2011, Cumberland in 2010 and Waldo in 2009.  The Convention is the only time of the year when all county officials, elected and appointed, have the opportunity to get together to discuss issues of importance to the counties as well as to attend many workshops and training sessions.

Lincoln County last hosted the convention in 2000 and it was extremely successful. John O'Connell,

Lincoln County Administrator, says that "Participants were talking about it for years and some had suggested that Lincoln County host it every year!  Spruce Point Inn did a great job in 2000 and is being extremely supportive this year as we go forward in the process."  Sponsorships and support come from all over the state but local businesses are being asked for their help in making this a memorable event for all participants. "It is great publicity for the Boothbay Harbor Region, " added O'Connell.   Those looking for further information should call either John or Debbie at 882-6311 or look at the county web site at www.lincolncountymaine.me.
