Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library
The Paul Coulombe/Bosarge Family Foundation $100,000 Library Challenge
LIBRARY SAYS IF IT WAS EASY, IT WOULDN'T BE CALLED A "CHALLENGE"! A CHALLENGE was issued ten months ago to Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library to raise $100,000 cash in hand between Memorial Day 2011 and Memorial Day 2012 above and beyond the library's usual and customary fund raising. If successful, Paul Coulombe and the Bosarge Family Foundation promised to match those dollars. The library Board of Trustees will only talk of success and is exercising its final push. The official financial results of the First Annual Adult Spelling Bee on March 23rd will be published this week along with additional donations received since the last count on March 15. On March 15, an article in The Boothbay Register outlined efforts during the last ten months, summarized discussions on how the extra funds might be allocated, and announced that the library still needed $27,000 to meet the CHALLENGE. If you are reading this article before Memorial Day 2012, it is not too late to help. Call the library for more information at 633-3112. Send donations to 4 Oak Street, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538. Donations are also taken via the library's website www.bmpl.lib.me.us. FMI: Betty Hughes 633-3112

Hodgdon Yachts, East Boothbay
Our goal at Hodgdon Yachts is to build the world's best sailing or motor yacht. It's that simple. And to us, building a world-class yacht is measured in how well design and aesthetics are balanced with practical issues of engineering and performance. Hodgdon vessels have earned the reputation of "heirloom boat" for more than their extraordinary looks. They also stand the test of time. At the foundation of every sailing and motor vessel we build, you'll find a consummate team of craftsmen, the industry's most advanced construction technology and a passion for excellence. It's the way we've built boats for nearly two centuries. 14 School Street, East Boothbay, (207) 633-4194 www.hodgdonyachts.com.

Marketing Cents 4U, Boothbay Harbor
Marketing your business should be fun creative and affordable. At Marketing Cents 4U owners Lori Pecor and Heather O'Brien believe this to be the secret to small business success. All too often, small business owners find themselves in, what we like to refer to as, marketing denial... "We know what we need to do, but we just don't have time to do it and we can't find an affordable alternative, so we pass on the opportunity." Well, at last there is a solution: At MC4U, business owners will have the opportunity to become part of a marketing team that is centered on building relationships, trust and loyalty. The MC4U team provides various services including marketing plans, copy writing, workshops, social media and events marketing. www.marketingcents4U.com.

Maine Motorcoach Network - Group tour business!
The Maine Motorcoach Network will host their second state-wide motorcoach FAM trip in 2012.(April 26 - May 1) Last year's FAM was attended by 17 tour operators from throughout the United States. In order to service the tour operators and provide them with some comprehensive information about our state the Office of Tourism is creating a "MOTORCOACH REFERENCE BINDER" for each tour operator attending the FAM to take home for future planning.
WHY A BINDER? It is a common practice when attending a motorcoach tradeshow that a business supplies the tour operator with a "profile sheet" - this profile sheet is designed to offer the tour operator an "at-a-glance" view of everything they may want to know about bringing their group to a destination and we have created a "Boothbay Harbor Region" template.
Click here for the template - and ADD YOUR INFORMATION!
We need Group Tour businesses to include their information on this profile sheet. The cost of inclusion in the binder is $50.This fee helps to offset the expenses involved in hosting a motorcoach FAM.
Please use this template to include your information and print 35 copies of your business profile. Be sure to 3-hole punch your profile sheets and send them (and payment) to the following:
Greater Portland Convention & Visitors Bureau
94 Commercial Street, Suite 300
Portland, Maine 04101
Attn:Lynn Tillotson
Please make checks payable to: Portland CVB Deadline April 1st! Click here for details on the program.
Marketing Opportunity Trade with Newport County Chamber of Commerce:
This chamber will be holding their Bi-Annual Membership Blitz May 15-16, 2012. Every two years during this drive, they rely on 70 chamber volunteers to work to reach out to 100s of prospective new members throughout Newport County, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. To do this, they incent members to motivate them for sales and have brought in 65 new members last year. They would like us to put together a Boothbay Harbor Region package that includes at least a one night stay at a hotel or B&B with a meal at one of our terrific restaurants and perhaps tickets to an activity: boat ride, tour, etc. which they will heavily promote and in return the chamber would get a similar package for us. Please email Catherine@boothbayharbor.com if you are interested in participating to reach out to this audience. We are also putting our Region Guides in their chamber.

An important part of showing that Maine is Open for Business is recognizing communities that provide exceptional service and streamlined regulatory processes for business owners. Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is extending an opportunity for towns, businesses or organizations to get additional detail for planning, zoning or development purposes from their basic mapping ortho photos at an additional cost. The photography is scheduled for spring 2013. Once the photography has been done the data is accessible to all without charge.
Click here to see a PDF showing the different levels of accuracy available from the ortho photo project. The first photo shows the basic photo that will be produced without any additional contribution from the county - pixel size of 24" and a horizontal accuracy of 13'. It is useful only for planning purposes. The second photo has a 12" pixel size with a horizontal accuracy of 4'. The third has a 6" pixel size and horizontal accuracy of 2' while the fourth has a 3" pixel size and a horizontal accuracy of 6". There are gradations of photo quality between these but these are the most common buy-up options. The approximate costs for these options for all of Lincoln County are as follows:
Pixel size Horizontal accuracy Approximate cost:
12"4' $38,000
6"2' $92,000
3"6" $590,000
For questions or additional information, the public is asked to contact Lincoln County Planner Bob Faunce at rfaunce@lcrpc.org or 784-2617.
